Ship construction's bug?

I've installed the 1.20.009 Beta version. Then I loaded a previous saved game (let's refer to it as Game 1). When I tried to upgrade one of my personalized ships, I noticed that all the extra components had been stripped away. Only the functional ones remains (engines, weapons, ecc.).
Then, I started a new game (Game 2), selected the example mod, created a custom race and personalized five or six ships (Altarian style). This time the upgrade feature worked well, preserving even the extra components. But after a few turns I discovered that the other major race in the game (I chose only one opponent) had mine same colour (yellow). Just to avoid confusion, I saved the game and start a new one (game 3), with all the same settings, apart the colour (white, this time).
But something strange happened: no one of my personalized ships showed up in the "user" tab; only the personalized colony ship.
Please, note that no one of the previous created ships have components that requires a tech I do not have.
I closed the game and inspected the "ships" folder: surpise! I found all the *.shipcfg related to the ships I created in Game 2, but only the .xml file for the colony ship.
Is this a bug or what?

I've forgotten to say that I chose the expansionist party (both in Game 2 and 3)

I found a similar problem when I upgraded to 1.1 version. When I 'm ready to upgrade a ship (after reseaching a new weapon, for example), I always find that the actual version of the ship is shown without any weapon or optional drive engine or other components. Only the crude hull.
Again, ther's no more (in 1.1 version), under the 3D model, the graphical list of all components added to the ship that you can click-select to remove/modify.

Ciao.

I've run into the same problem. I started a new 1.20[b].009 game. The Ship Designer functioned normally until I was about half-way through the Tech Tree, and immediately after I had obsoleted several ship designs, though this was not the first time in this new game that I had obsoleted designs.

Now whenever I upgrade a design, all of the jewelry components are automatically removed from my ships. Functional components remain on the design. I have tried quitting out of the game and restarting, and have tried cycling the Options > Interface > Ship Designer setting for "Remove Functional Components When Upgarding a Ship Design." The missing-jewelry issue remains.

I have not previously encountered this issue with any prior beta or release verion of the game.

Rummaging further in the problem, another strangeness: even without the appropriate XML files, if I load the Game 2 all my personalized ships appears and are upgradable without any problem.
All in all it seems Stardock have done a little mess with the ship creation process.
Tonight I'll start a new game, without mod, choosing a predefined race "as it is". We shall see. Expect further observation in the next post (I really want to comprehend what happened to the XML files).

Now, if all we allow me to do so, a few words for "danilo1956":
mi pare di capire che tu sia italiano come me. Se è così, potresti provare a creare qualche nave personalizzata (senza spenderci troppo tempo, non conta che siano un capolavoro), quindi salvare il gioco, uscire, e controllare la sottocartella "Ships" (salvo installazioni personalizzate dovrebbe trovarsi in C:\My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\ships)? Ci sono i file "NomeNave.xml" e "NomeNave.shipcfg" per tutte le navi che hai creato?
Grazie dell'eventuale cortesia.

Looks like I am not the only one who is having problems with the ship designer in 1.2 beta.

Like the rest of you I have had got the bug where the ships jewlery vanioshes exept for the functional components. however I also have notied a number of other bugs.

1. I started a new game with all of the tech tree researched and wanted to pre-design some ships (Have not re-added shipyards), anyways I noticed that some of the ships aka combat transport, cruiser and a few other pre-designed ships did not show pics in the viewer. this happend for all of the races except terrans.

2. During a game 1.2 beta crahed to desktop, after restarting and reloading the game, I was no longer able to upgrade any of my custome designed ships without all of the jewlery getting swapped with other parts randomly and stuck to various places of the ships hard points. This of course ruined the game and I was forced to abandon the game since I was no longer able to upgrade ships with new techs.

3. I don't know about everyone else but I never had a problem with the earlier versions crashing on me unless I was running multiple windows behind the game, but now it will crash to desktop every 20 or so turns, sometimes it will go for 100+ turns before crashing but then I will get the upgrade bug and am forced to restart anyways.

Over all I like how the new combat system works, as it fits in more with my ideas of using defensive systems over just mounting offensive and hoping I am always the attacker. But the rest of the glitches need to be corrected before it goes to a full release version. otherwise it will ruin a perfectly good game for me.

I started a new game after having deleted all files in the "ships" folder and copied in it a set of personalized ships (Yor style) created before updating to the new beta version. In the game I chose the Altarian race, modifying nothing apart from the ship's style (naturally I selected the Yor one). Then I reset the mod's folder in order to force the game not to use the example mod.
Until now all is going well and every ships I created in the game (even upgrading the old models) has its XML and SHIPCFG files.
Maybe that all the problems are related to the example mod.

If I start a new game all of my ship designs are there and fully capable of being upgraded. however if I save the game and then re load the game later only the core ship designs retain there jewlery. My own personal ship designs lose all jewlery and only retain the upgraded parts.

This is after I uninstalled and installed a fresh version without mods then patched.

But I think where the program wants to look now for the mods folder might have something to do with the error. But not sure what will fix the glitch.

My problems with the shipdesigner only occur with a newly created upgrade. Had the "jewelry disappeared" happen once. I then loaded an earlier saved game and the Jewelry was back. I then reloaded the last save and the jewelry stayed. I now have noticed that if I create a new upgrade and a ship is not built before I quit the game that new upgrade design will no longer show up in the build menu. It isn't that there are no techs missing, just the new upgrade design doesn't show up.

Please upgrade to the new 1.2 beta 2. The missing jewelry bug has been fixed.

Forgive me for slaughtering the Italian language because I am American and can only do literal translations and phrases..

State chiedendogli di fare i disegni personali della nave ("ships"), allora osservate la parte interna quei dispositivi di piegatura e lime specificati per vedere se ancora esistono? I miei disegni correnti non hanno loro monili molto perché desidero progettarlo velocemente.

Heh, just trying to see what I remember of it...
