Influence Explosion?

Ahhh!!! How'd they do that?!

I'm playing a game on Normal dificulty, Medium galaxy, and 5 races. I've researched all but 4 of the influence techs, and implemented them on 5 influence starbases. I have half the map covered with pretty blue, and large ponds of blue in a few places farther out. The Alterans have already fallen, and then a new Minor race shows up. They take one world (Wisp). Suddenly, the Arceans expand their influence in that one turn and are now nearly conquering some of my worlds (3.75). How on earth did they do that??!!

Influence is generated by population, modified by things like racial abilities, technologies, and improvements like embassies.

Maybe that world had a large population or some influence modifiers like the Restaurant of Eternity?

There's also a bug where after an invasion a world will temporarily have a ridiculously high population and this can cause the whole map to change color. But this goes away after a turn or two.

I have seen that bug before, and assumed that is what it was. It has not changed now, after about 20 or so turns. My influence has grown very slightly, so I must still have the upper hand though some of my worlds are now entirely in their territory. It used to be the other way around. The Torians built the RoE. I thought that perhaps they had captured it, but I can't find it anywhere. I have advanced espienege on all races, and can't see it. Some worlds are rebuilding from scratch, so maybe it was on one of those? I'll check the population.

The race arceans have all the influence, not the new minor race. The Alterans surrendered to the Torrians and gave thier worlds to the Arceans, but that was a few turns before the influence explosion. I want to know how he did it so I can try!

BTW - Do influence points count toward total influence? ie, when you vote in the up, does that lower your influence effect at all? Can you trade for ip and thus gain the hand over another race in influence area?

I found the resturaunt of eternity, and it is still on the Torian homeworld. Don't know how I missed it, though it doesn't impact the Arcean's influence.

I found it! The Arceans got a hold of the Alteran's influence resource. I had no idea that one influence resource could be so powerfull so fast!
