BUG: Purchase/Obsolete bug in release

I happened upon this bug by accident, but was able to reproduce it:

(This should all happen on the same turn)
1. Purchase a ship at a planet.
2. Go to the "Shipyard" screen, and obsolete the ship design you just purchased (I didn't decommission any, not sure if it matters).
3. Optional?- Design a new ship, preferably one more expensive than the ship you just purchased in Step 1, if needed.
4. Go back to the planet where you purchased a ship in Step 1, and set it to build a ship more expensive than the one you had purchased (when I tested, it was my newly design ship).
5. The planet will then redirect the purchased progress from the old ship to the new one, then work on the ship until it says "0 turns remaining," but the ship will never actually complete (be put into play). Neither will any other ship you ever try to build there.

From that point on, for the rest of the game, that planet will never be able to build a ship. I tried switching production, setting it to produce "Nothing" then switching to another ship, quitting GC2 and coming back, even simply decommissioning the Starport and building a new one. Nothing, the planet will never produce again (which was kind of a big blow in a "Duel" game with only 8 planets total ).

Bug Unknowns:
-Can the bug be reproduced if you switch production to a cheaper ship after obsoleting the old ship design.
-Is it neccessary to design a new ship in the meantime.

I tested this bug a bit further:

-Bug still occurs even if you switch to a cheaper ship instead of a more expensive one
-You don't have to design a new ship class to reproduce the bug, its simply purchase->obsolete->switch production
-You HAVE to purchase the ship design before obsoleting it to reproduce this bug. If you simply obsolete then switch production, the starport will keep working.

I saw something similar in one of my games. I purchased a transport on a planet and then in the same turn I switched it to build a constructor. It then showed constructor with 0 weeks left. After hitting turn, the transport was built and it started making the constructor. This made sense to me when I saw it. So your case you cannot purchase and then obsolete the design in the same turn. No ship is built and then you cannot switch to anything else.

Yeah but he should still be able to build on that planet in the future. The big problem is this:
From that point on, for the rest of the game, that planet will never be able to build a ship.

Aye, the main issue is once I had obsoleted the purchased ship, and switched production, nothing was built, not the old ship, not the new ship, nothing. Ever .

Well, i also came across this very annoying bug in my current game. And it had to happen in my main production planet ...

Did you get the patch? Oddly enough I did have a similiar issue my last game, I purchased a colony ship, then went into the ship designer and gave it better engines; I upgraded it, replacing it, and made sure to switch production to the new colony ship (which was named the same thing). The original colony ship got built, I could tell since it was slower than it should be, and from then on if I recall things were quite normal with that planet. I do have the patch, that might be the difference.

Yes i have the patch installed but the problem is still there. The buy button is always disabled and no matter what ship i choose to build it always says "0 weeks" to complete. The buy button stays disabled.

Help !

I have a similar "ship build" bug issue. I want to preface this by saying I loved this game, until this game stopping bug occured. I cannot build "any" ships at "any" of my planets!. All the build list of the ships show " -1 day" and "never" in the build sequence and I cannot build any ships.

Please help, i am not able to play the game at all. I have added the latest patch and reladed many new games and this keeps happening after turn 1.

I have exactly the same issue as the original poster. Any idea of a resolution? I have scanned the forum but it can be difficult to isolate relevant posts from random topic titles

Big problem in that it is Earth that now cannot build and they are awfully close to some potentially unfriendly aliens.

I wanted to bump this issue since I've just encountered it too now. Several of my planets in my current game now cannot build any ships at all. The ship build time shows 0 and you can't click the buy button. This is an awful bug. Someone at Stardock should take note as it ruins a game in progress. In this case, one that I've put hours into.

Corwin: did you adjust your spending on military to 0 in the economy tab? if you do that all ships will be on "never" on all your planets.

I too experienced this bug. Screwed up a couple of my planets for good.

I tried deleting the starport, then rebuilding it the next turn, but even then the ship it builds remains stuck at "0 weeks".

Thank you for the excellent reproduction steps. I was able to reproduce and fix this problem. The fix will be included with our next update.
