I want to pre-order it but....

I want to pre-order this game but I dont know what the game specs are. I have a pc with a 933MHz cpu, 512mb ram, 16 meg vanta\vanta video ard that can support 3d games, and 1.2 gbytes left on my 9.7GB HD. IS this good enough or can I only play Galciv 1 + expansion

I fear your spec are too low: I think that at least a 32 Mb card is required, compatible with directX 9c, and I fear 1.2 Gb may be a liitle short since everything need to be installed on the HD. BTW, look at the sticky thread on the manual : the config is explained in the manual

I really have 1.6gb left becasue I got red of some stuff but thats as high I can get it well I wont pre-order and wait for a demo to come out. I well see if I can play it with my video card.

1.6 Gb should be OK. The game directory here is 400Mb, though that's without movies. I agree that the video card is pushing it a little. I couldn't be sure that the game would run at an acceptable speed on your system. You're probably right to wait for a demo.

The draft manual Link lists the required specs.

Minimum:
Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/Vista
800 MHz Pentium III or equivalent processor
256 MB RAM, 32 MB DirectX 9.0c compatible video card

Recommended:
Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/Vista
2 GHz Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
512 MB RAM, 128 MB DirectX 9.0c compatible video card (one that is not integrated into the system board)
2 GB of hard disk space

Also, there are expensive optional graphic elements that you can turn off so that the game will run faster on slower PCs.

The biggest issue will be your video card. If it does not support the use of truetype fonts through DirectX 9.0c, then you are out of luck.

well I forgot the promt to do a full system scan. You type it in the RUN on winxp and you get a file of all your system specs to sound/gfx and other stuff. I got galciv1 but lost the key it came in with and my HD messed up and now I only have the demo of it. SO if I cant run the game ill just have to buy them all over again.

Some games I got for the pc had a option area in the install area. When installing you can get the basic stuff to run it but not the high gfxs. That decreased the size of the install but 500mb to 350mb but I dont know if they well put somthing like that in there for those with bad PCS

Crap on a stick.

I just realize my computer doesn't even meet the minimum specs to run the game, and I've already pre-ordered it. And I won't have the money to upgrade my computer until at least March. Wow, I definitely did *that* backwards.... [slaps self]

If you haven't registred you serial id on a stardock server (like putting it in Stardock Central to update the game, or registering a player in the metaverse), your out of luck.

BTW, if you want to buy it again, don't forget to check the way totalgaming.net works, since yu can buy it with totalgaming.net token.

You can still email [email protected] to cancel your pre-order. So long as you haven't been charged yet, it's fine.

Thanks Yarlen. I may as well keep it though; I want the extra goodies for pre-ordering. I'll just have to suffer for a month or two while until I can afford to upgrade my computer!

.....Just had a thought. I believe I pre-ordered through EB Games. Will I still get the "extras" for pre-ordering, or is that only if I did it through Stardock itself?

Well I did inter it in star dock but what I meant by HD messup is that my intire HD froze and I had to reinstall all my stuff. I reinstalled Star dock but when installing where you inter the code if you have it was not there. Before my crash it showed when installing Star dock but sad for me no trace was found on my HD that i had the game so it did give me my code. I got 3 xbox 360 games =150 when I could buy the Galciv one and 2 plus expansion for the same price

@ Martok :

Unless I'm horribly mistaken, any kind of pre-order earns you the extra goodies.

On-line, retail, Stardock, other company, USA, Canada, Europe....
None of it matters : pre-order = heaven... err... extra goodies

Do you know that Stardock Central has a nice feature: it is called Serial number lookup. You only need your e-mail adress and when using it, the message will be sent to the e-mail address with all the serail ID associated with that address. Isn't it nice?

Yes, it looks like that way. Unless you have registered a metaverse player for GC 1.

Have to spent $50 dollers to get my codes back

Well, it depends if you buy them using Totalgaming.net token or not.

I did make register a account for medavers but I dont know the name I used. I dont know how that well help me.

I dont really know all I remember is when playing galciv and at the end getting a message to send my score to medavers.

For $40 i can get 5 tokens. 4 tokens needed for galciv1 but 2 for the expansion. I will need 7 tokens and well have to spend $60. Thats $10 more than just buying them with out tokens.

GC1: 40 $ or 4 token
AP: 20 $ or 2 token
10 token + TGN account : 65$

So you can either spend 60$ or 65$ and get 4 token left . But when you will preorder GC2, you will pay 45$ or 5 Token. And if you have an active TGN account, the booster pack of 5 tokens is only 35$.

So GC1 + AP + GC 2 = 105$.
GC1 + AP + GC through TGN = 11 tooken for 65 + 35 = 100$ AND you get 4 token left, that need to be used in the 2 years following yout TGN subscription. And you will surely be able to use them on a non-free GC2 expansion or on another game on TGN.

It is your choice.

BTW, looking at this thread http://tgnforums.stardock.com/?ForumID=322&AID=99001, it seems that the pricing structure will change.

Wait... I thought it wasn't going to work on a 32MB card. It never ran on my work machine when I tried to test it. Has this changed?

Yup, EB Games will provide you with the CE box if you pre-ordered the game. The retail stores seem confused on this point, but it has been arranged (as indicated on the EB Games site).

ICEnightmare - This is why you shouldn't have too many email accounts.   If you email [email protected] with your name/address, they should be able to track down the proper account for you.

Minimum specs are a 32MB video card that supports DirectX 9.0c features. Honestly, I would suggest buying a better video card if possible as you'll get a nice graphical boost out of it (the high-res textures are stunning).

Hi all,

Since TGN was mentioned (and I'm its benevolent ruler), I figured I'd lay out the various options.

If you're not a TotalGaming.net member you have three options:

1) You can buy games standalone like any other online store. No discounts are provided.

2) You can become a TGN member for $69.95 and receive 10 tokens. Tokens give about a 30% discount on all titles.

3) You can become a TGN member for $39.95 and receive 5 tokens. (Again, tokens give about a 30% discount.)

Once you've used up your initial tokens, you may purchase token booster packs for $65 (10 tokens) or $35 (5 tokens).

So for GalCiv II you have the following options:

1) Purchase standalone for $44.95.

2) Become a TGN member and spend 5 tokens for the game.

Option 2 means that you could essentially end up paying only $39.95 to get GalCiv II and become a TGN member (memberships last forever). You can then purchase more tokens to buy even more games down the line. We just signed on TopWare Interactive, so we've got another 12 titles coming to TGN in the coming weeks, in addition to the nearly 30 games we already offer.

Maybe this card doesn't. My home machine has a decent card though... with a lifetime warranty. So I won't be buying a new one for a while
