Level 0.81 is Beta. Level 0.90+ is gamma.

Level 0.81 was made available sometime last night and is the latest (last?) beta level available.

If you see the option "council" on the top left side of this forum's screen and do NOT see level 0.90(b).013 or later under "games" in SDC, then make sure you have the setting for the beta levels of SDC checked (tools->settings->general -- third button from the top under the heading "auto update").

Nope, I don't see the word council or the 0.90(b), are you sure you didn't missplaced my name by accident?

so what we are saying is that the gamma release is a limited beta to a select group - if yes - i comprehend, do I understand why - not really. Guess the rest of us pre-payers, who have offered our support and (in many cases) did the same for GalCiv1 - including in my case being mentioned in special thanks on the box - will have to await release.

Enjoy the gamma comrades.

Dumb question but to reach a certain level like dipolmat level you have to reacch a certain amount of posts or something?

Nope, they are appointed by Stardock according with your participation, help to other posters, effort in the game, helping with possitive info about the game, suggestions, etc.

Well, you are veteran, not diplomat or ambassador

Makes sense to me, reward those who have helped the developers the most. Guess I should always send in my reports instead of just assuming they already know about it. Only a month and a half left, I can make it.

Please excuse our confusion in regards to the versioning of the GalCiv II Beta.  We are in the process of staging a private gamma build.  But unfortunately we have experienced a few hiccups with syncronizing our servers that appears to becausing many headaches.

Because of this problem you are probably seeing a new build available (available 0.090(b).xxx) but there are no files available for download.  The current beta version available is 0.81.006 which is the same build as v0.80 BETA 5 Release (December 15, 2005).

The new gamma builds 0.090.xxx or greater will only be available to a select group of private beta testers.

For the short term the Chicago server (for Stardock Central) has been disabled while we get all our files properly syncronized.  Please use the California server.  Tools->Settings (Internet section, Current Server Option).  We hope that once the servers are properly syncronized that Stardock Central will report the proper versions of the game that are available to you.

Our apologies for this inconvenience.

Hmmm...I have access to the gamma builds with less than Diplomat status. And yes I'm sure, since I have 0.90[b].013 downloaded which has the campaign. I guess that I slipped through the cracks.

BTW it looks great from my cursory look.

I have the beta.81 I have noticed on this and earlier betas that if I decomission the starport that I built on the planet
because I located on a square that is better utilized as a bonus for say research or manufacturing, I can't rebuild the starport at all. It is no longer available as a resource to build. That is WRONG and is a bug.

Here at work the upgrade worked perfectly to 0.81.006. At home, it upgraded me to 0.90(b).013. Both systems are using Star Dock 2.21[b].163 Build 105. Here, no change that I can tell from last update. I haven't been able to play much at home but I did notice the Stardock scrren at startup and some new graphics. Also, It does want me to upgrade/downgrade to 0.81.006. Anyway, no biggie for me. I think both versions are fantastic.

I also have that version with the option to downgrade. It is a totally new version with all new ship designs and big change in AI. (they are nasty). Other minor changes noted: Now can load colony ship up to 1000, new robot newsreader.

Every game I have started in the 90 version has CTD at some point. Some I have been able to restart and some not but one can tell it's gonna be great when they get it ironed out.

how do you get higher, like to veteran?

You get into the beta program early enough to make a sustained contribution, diligently report bugs with enough information to help the developers, make helpful posts to the forums, and kill 3 Yor a day.

Jakanca, is it your home computer or office that is asking you to downgrade to version 0.81?
My home PC was asking. I went ahead and downgraded as the game was crashing often so I figured I didn't get a complete download of the .9xxx version. After appling the NVidia fix, I am up and running fine now on version 0.81. Thanks.

Hmm ... my GC2 shows as 0.91[b].002 with an upgrade to 0.81a.007 - is this a valid upgrade or a downgrade?
