Upgrade Custom Ship Crash

Upgrading a custom ship design caused the game to crash to the desktop as soon as I hit the save button while using the same name as the previous ship. I upgraded an older constructor design with new engines and life support, hit the save button and BAM! The End. Anyone else with this problem? I've done all of the Windows and DirectX upgrades so I don't think it's internal.

same problem here, were u able to delete the old tech and replace it with new?

Stopped doing it myself too. Additionally I can not upgrade the base designs at all.. ie colony ship, survey ship etc... button is not authorized. I realize that this could be to folks not wanting us to change the core designs but I would still like the option of using the hulls and changing the name to something else... like Colonial Colonizer... or Colonial Transport...

I found a work around for this problem : change the ship to your hearts content. When you are finished just add at least one more charachter to the name or change one. For example Destroyer Mk1 to Destroyer Mk2 and it won't crash. Do not delete the old ship type if you are still using ships of that type or it will also crash. Hope this helps

I'm getting it to crash before I even go to save the design, while changing items (trying to remove old) it CTDs. Have already sent in 2 error reports, didn't think it required to send in more since I can recreate the crash on command.
