Beta 4 - Crash on startup

All day today GC 2 had fairly crash happy so I uninstalled completely (nuked the folders) and reinstalled (Twice) With both installs ive been getting an imeadiete crash at startup. I've generated a smart exception file but before I sent it off I wanted to check to see if anyone else was getting a crash on startup that said.

"Microsoft visual C++ Runtime library
Runtime error! (program install location for GC followers) this appcication has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way, Please contact the application's support team for more infromation"

Anyone ever seen this before? or know how to fix it for that matter

Have you tried to launch through the GCConfig? Have you validated that its display settings is set properly for your machine?

Sounds like a problem with the dlls, the activation one being the most likely.  If you can't launch it directly from GCConfig or the GalCiv2.exe, e-mail me your debug.err file if it generated one, and a screenshot with the error.

It looks as if it might have crashed while trying to play an mp3 file.  Try disabling music from your prefs.ini file and see if you still get crashes.

Ran just fine I changed the following lines
Sfx=0
Music=0
EventMusic=0

any idea on a fix?
