On Hate

Burn all my wishes...

I don't know if you remember me
You don't have to say
I won't try to pretend
I'm okay
Dares to be honest, for once
I hate you tonight

There's so much innocence in your eyes
I hate you tonight
For everything you'll say and do
For everything you won't say and do
Everything that will never come true
I hate you tonight

Save another bottlecap
I hate you tonight
Add it to my collection
Of memories
I'll never make with you
I hate you tonight

You could get me to fall for you so fast
With one kiss
I can't take back
Nothing to make it alright
For all that
I hate you tonight

I'll pursue you like crazy
I'm more than remotely
Interested
Take back that lie
Before it eats me alive
I hate you tonight

I never meant to make you sad
Withering without rotting
This is my blight
I won't take off my coat
Or let you go
I hate you tonight

You're perfect in so many ways
What's the problem?
It's better to love and lose...
Don't try to contrite
Because I know you mean it
And, for that, I really hate you tonight

Burn all my wishes
I guess that's what I'll do
Or should I just take a chance
Once more, on you
Put up a fight
Debating all day
Only one thing I know
I hate you tonight

Nothing wrong with hating the thing you love. Or the thing you want most. It adds an edge.

Thanks for the comment, Emperor. The word hate does add edge, and obviously I don't mean hate in the truest sense in this piece, so you all get the idea.
