Beta 3: ship design tech mismatch

Eager for beta 4 but stuck waiting still, I fired up the old build and played around a bit. Strangely, a ship design I had saved in a prior game appeared in the buildable list after I researched lasers (like the pre-designed ships do). But that's not the real problem. Not only was a custom ship loaded into the list for no apparent reason, but I had not even researched the needed techs for this ship, as it uses Mk4 or Mk5 lasers, and I only had Mk2 researched!

Screenie: Notice the high level lasers (they look like can openers IMO) on the ship, while only Mk2 is available.

It might be too late for a beta3 bug to be tracked down, but I've seen no mention of this issue so I figured I'd post it anyway.

What hull are you using? erm... dunno maybe the game engine is faulty and doesn't understand Custom ship Required techs or somthing... ask Brad then ask him who is in charge of this issue then ask him to fix it then he says its too late then you say do it or ill hurt you then he exlies you and then a digital war hapens and somone hacks GC2...wait...i wasn't suposed to say that! *Lowa Federation Spy Backstabs Lowa11*

Good catch Kryo... I hadn't gotten this one, but definitely a bug! Makes me wonder if the AI is getting the same things?

To be replaced by Lowa12? Or Lowa100? Are the Lowans using decimal or binary?

After looking at the link, I'm not sure I understand the problem. Is it that the images of the higher level lasers are available? 'Cause the "Canopener" class that you have designed there only has attack 4 with 4 lasers, so you're not getting extra power from higher level lasers. Or I guess maybe you're saying that since the class was designed with MkIV lasers, it should not have become available until that tech was researched.

Higher level lasers only take less space, while dealing the same damage. That's not the point, though.

Problems with this ship:

1) Canopener is somehow being treated as a basic prebuilt ship design sich as a Defender (it adds to the list automatically after certain techs are researched).

2) As you can obviously see, even if (1) is intended, the ship uses technology that has not been researched, namely Lasers 3 (just checked the saved ship file and that's waht was on it). It also uses a Large hull, while only Medium is researched.

3) Side-note from (2), the ship was designed with a better miniturization ability than was available in the game where this happened (you can see the ship is at 53/42 capacity).

While simply being able to build higher level Lasers than you should isn't a game-breaker, it is definitely wrong. And the game not checking miniturization levels, combined with the Hull size also being one that is not yet available, means such a bug would allow you to build much better ships than you should be able to.

I looked in my game again and it seems all of my saved designs have appeared as "becomes available" items on various techs, so they would probably appear as well though I don't know if they are linked to the proper techs or not. Either way something is really wonky with it.

Rmb that GC2 BETA3 is bugged and theyll probley fix But you keep complaining and i bet they will extend that date for Beta4 thanks to you

to be replaced by a copy of Lowa11 and we use the same number we liquidate the number's holder so we don't care too much... (Lowa1 is The Leader Lowas2-5 are top advisors in departments Lowas6-9 are Top Brass Lowa10 Is Spouse of Lowa1 Lowa11 is Speaker and "vice-President" of The Leader also known to hold the chips in government beyond Lowa11 is classifed)
