Viraxian Vision of Viscera and Vassals

Viraxian Vision of Viscera and Vassals

Working on starting a new empire, called the Viraxian Ascension. The story revolves around a symbiont race that crash landed on a hostile earth, that was just begining space flight.

Each member would not be limited, nor harrassed, on what alignment they played. Senate membership would require a pure evil, and a pure good game metaverse submission. There will be a limited amount of initial openings for the senate (5). Those promoted I would want to have a common link to the storyline in role playing stories. Otherwise, just play.

Senate members are Symbiont/Human that have reached ascension. Regular member could still write, but be viewed like sympathic supporters for the cause. (if you know what I mean).

As I said before, I have never wrote role-playing fiction, so some of what I might jot may be stooooopid. LOL

So, I am wondering if there is any interest in something like this?

I read that tribute income continues even after a race is gone from the game. Are you sure the tribute stopped?

Yes, I can confirm that it's stopped.

I saw a tribute stop last game as well. The minor race died way before the payment schedule was over and the extra income was gone. They definitely changed it because of all that tech whoring several hundred a turn (or more) over several years.

As for the dreaded money flag, there is too little known about it to say for sure. Some have had game where they had hundreds of thousands of BC and no flag, others say they got zapped with only a few thousand. This is total speculation on my part, but I would guess that it is the amount of tribute received compared to the other sources of income that may be the problem. So if your economy can only crank out 3000 BC in taxes and you get way more than that in tribute from whoring, that does it. Going along with this theory, it would further have to be conjectured whether these are snap shot checks taken at random intervals or a recorded pattern of so many turns with an overly high ratio. Any thoughts?

Well, I resubmitted my 1st game for a 3500 point boost. We're now #21. :)

Awww! Those rotten Drengin bastards! There I was, all set to run up the tech tree, and what do they do? Surrender.

new map time. :)

After posting I noticed we had slid back to #22, so I (grudgingly) went back (about 10 turns) and held off kicking Drengin arse for the tech run. Boosted the score about 9k. The good thing, is that it moved us up to #20 now. :CONGRAT:

Bad thing (I guess), is we are over 11k from #19, so it will take a couple of good games to move up again. Not that I am worried.

So, to wit, when nearing that final military-to-tech phase, make sure your not at war with the remaining AI. I originally held off a peace agreement because I wanted them to ask for peace so I could extort some BC from them. Seems preferable for the player to sue for peace when they have a couple of systems left.

And the slot battle with Frogboy's Arnor empire continues......

I also finally got that game submitted from the office, right about the same time, and that probably helped!

The top 12 probably can't be caught by an empire with just a few members, but up to that point, there isn't that much difference.

I'm curious-- when you wrap a game next, let me know how your points break out. Here's what I had from my last game:
Social: 6503
Tech: 3279
Economy: 4885
Military: 2152

Kind of unusual game, I wound up on the right side of the map ALL BY MYSELF with a nice gap between the left and right side. I sprinted for the systems that helped bridge the gap, and controlled most of them. Wound up with virtually half the map.

Problem was I didn't get any exceptional planets, just a couple of 18s and a couple of 17s, and I spent so much resource on colony ships I was way behind for a while. The Yor finished Dip Trans before I had finished the colonization phase, and I didn't get any wonders for quite a while. Never in danger of losing due to my influence and production base, but getting so much of the map wasn't as huge an edge for me as I expected.

I had that same situation also. Look around for a high influence system. In that one game, iirc, my best planet was an initial 20, all else 18 or less. But the 54 influence / pq13 system was a boon. It just looks sad at first. Once the population gets up, you will have a fab economy.

In an unprecendented action, General couslee managed to bring peace to the galaxy. In light of the new United Alliance, all current Viraxian members have been promoted to the empire senate, in order to facilitate the multiple requirements in the union.

Good work ppl. :CONGRAT:

PS: What a cheezy ending for an alliance victory. :P lol

Yay, promotion. Sorry if I haven't been playing games recently. Been waiting for that 1.12 patch and I have some other games I'm currently trying out. :p

But Thanksgiving may be a good time for another submission.

You should see the Cultural Victory cutscene...yuk! I won't ever allow a game to be won that way again, just so I don't have to see that! :D

I don't mind the Alliance victory movie, it's kind of neat.

Something I may have to do intentionally in a future game-- I colonized a PQ16 planet, and got an event giving me a chance for about a 24% negative, 3% negative, or 8% positive change in quality. Since my gameplan was to be good, and I hadn't seen many events, I decided to take the good choice. This reduced the planet quality to 11, and I just destroyed the colony.

It still showed on the map as PQ16, but when I put another colony ship there, it went straight to 11 again. I gave up, and left it alone.

But for the rest of their time in the game, I saw the Torians, and occasionally the more remote Drengin, send colony ships to that planet (Playing on crippling, FWIW). They wasted ship after ship, with 1-6 billion people, dropping them on that planet and then destroying the colony. The Torian never got very strong, and I think that may be part of the cause!

I may try accepting a negative PQ event on another planet if the planet isn't much to begin with, and the evil option isn't too enticing. Makes a nice honeypot! LOL
Reply #88 Top
Hmmm...I knew the PQ would stay that way after the event, but I didn't know the AIs would keep wasting colony ships like that. Interesting observation, grnhornt!

Yeah, I have thought about that also. I knew the AI would destroy a colony if the PQ was too low, and have wanted to try it, but alas had not had the oppertunity to try it. I was wanting a single PQ15 system/single system sector, and pull a -49%pq event, preferable on the outskirts of the empire. Was gonna rename it the "cursed" system or do a story line "Curse of Zeus" (or whatever system name).

This could be a devastating tactic on tiny maps. Some of those early AI colony ships have half their starting population on them. Lose those, and they are hamstrung for the rest of game. I like larger maps, so it might not have such a dramatic effect. How quickly did the AI destroy the colony? Did they squat on it for a few turns?
They destroyed the colony immediately-- never actually _saw_ the colony there, just colony ship after colony ship going there, then vanishing.

I was worried about the Torians, since I had a big empire of rubbish planets, all 15-17 starters except for Sol at 18, and they had one starting at 22 out of my reach. But they never got too strong, and that one's mine now ;)

Two statements come to mind.
cheezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzze
and
MWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Edit: may be the best tiny maso strategy yet. Might give it a try after my current game (Huge/rare, 12 core planets. 2x13,3x14,1x26,6x15-19 PQs. 11 systems)

Also has a star with a 58 influence rating, but no planets at all :(

OK, tried a maso tiny/rare game to see what it was like. Decided to stay on 1.11 so I could run a few games with the full cheese available like players who started before I did...

Ctl-N until I found a map I liked. 2 Very Nice planets in my home sector. I did the basic cringing vulture strategy until late-- Bribing everyone regularly to keep them happy, the bribing them to fight each other. And sending constructors and combat transports out next to things I wanted while they fought.

Please, Drengins, with your enormous armada of dreadnoughts, could you attack the Yor, while I sit just outside their sector with two combat transports? I'll give you a trade good, a tech, and 20 bc for 20 turns...and while you fight, I'll grab the nice military resource the Yor owned.

Did this until it was just me and the Drengin, by then I had culture maximizing and built a couple of palaces in my sectors with planets next to the sectors the Drengin owned by now. Didn't take long, then after the last planet flipped I picked off a few of their ships in the last turn to boost my military score.

Cheesy--why yes, thank you. I'll probably practice a couple more games on maso or crippling so I can get a little better before I upgrade.

Solid #19 now!

That's a very amusing bug.

16-20 is a serious battle right now, with every submitted game changing the metaverse rankings. The Arnor got a couple of previously inactive overlords to submit a new game in the last two weeks, while most of the Viraxians have been pretty quiet, but that will change.

Indeed. I had to take a break away from the computer for a bit, but should be back in the swing of things soon. Funny they had to call up their "resevres". LOL
