I'm a Master of Orion series fan (yes I Have MOO 3 and I don't find it a total disaster) and what I would Like to see in Gal. Civs is definitely GNN (Galactic Network News - something like that). It's not big deal (and perhaps you guys have already included a somewhat similar feature) but I think that it's one of those things that even if it's not so critical, it makes the game more fun. It's something like a pleasant break. What's your opinion guys ? :NOTSURE:

There is something similar: Quarterly Reports. Watch for them each quarter!

There are also random galactic events (not in beta 3) which is what GNN was when you get down to it. Dunno how its going to be presented yet though.

I would like to see these events like seeing the news . With a newscaster, the background, the music, etc
I wouldn't like to see them in a report, or just presented to us as facts.

I hope STARDOCK implement this the first way. And I think it's very easy for them to do so...

If you have a look at that dev journal it suggests that this is what they're working on. But then I could be wrong.
