Noob trying to create a menu

I just discovered the wonderful things I can do with DesktopX, and I'm diving in, trying to create my own theme. I've created a theme that works similarily to the Thinking Tree theme, which is what made me download the program in the first place.

That theme has simple text layers that you click on to bring up a centralized menu that, depending on which text layer you click, brings up a different menu, i.e. system, apps, games, etc. I'm trying to duplicate that same effect with my theme, but I can't figure out how to make it work. Is there any kind of tutorial out there, describing how to make menus?

Thanks!

Or any tutorial for DX for that matter. I would appreciate one detailing on making an object function like the start button.

you need to set the text layer's properties so that it is an object contoller, and the seperate menu needs to be a pop-up, basically. Many of my themes use this style, take a look at a few, you should be able to figure it out if you look  at the properties of each object.
