Stuck on turn

Playing as the drengii, date 22 Nov 2226, my turn button has dissapeared, and while I can still interact with everything I cannot advance to the next turn. Pressing enter does not do anything either.

Welcome to my world!

What were you doing just before the button dissapeared?

Have you tried saving and reloading the game?

My guess is right before the turn button dissappeared... he clicked it..

Yes I clicked the button, the turn proceeded, and then nothing. Button did not reappear, and enter does not progress either. It was a quick test game trying out different things, was relying on auto save only, so I did not have a save to reload and try again.

In my next game, I ran into the same problem. This time I had a save game from the previous turn. Reloading the save game runs into the same problem. Turn button dissapears and enter button will not advance turn.

Did you send the saved game to Scott at stardock? If it is that reproducible it should be easy for Stardock to find the cause. (Be sure to compress the file first.)

Well I just started beta testing, so please inform me what Scott's email address is (or how the submission process works) and ill happily send it. EVERY game I play ends up with a stuck turn.

Just save , exit GalCiv2 (completely) and hen start and reload.

That works 90% of the time, but not always. In my current game I am perma stuck. Dont matter how many times I save and reload, the turn does not progress

haha! I like a dry sense of humor.

Seriously though, I have also experienced this. Quitting and reloading the last saved game fixed it in my case. I couldn't think of anything I did to cause the problem, and it seems to happen randomly.

This damn bug cripples each and every single game I play. Some I manage to progress a few years before I get perma stuck, but it always happens. Ive yet to fight a single war

Had a good play session today myself and got clobbered by this. I save, exit GC2 to desktop, come back in and reload. The problem seems to get worse over time, the longer you play the sooner it happens the next time.

Annoying bug isn't it?
Yep, it gets progressively worse. I believe it happens due to combat, thats why in my experience on smaller galaxies where fighting breaks out sooner the lockups happen sooner, and on big galaxies where combat takes longer to occur I can play for a considerably longer time before the lockups start happening.

I think you might be on to something with the combat idea.

i think it has too do with the AI Script that its flawed and doesn't stop working its suposed to stop then let player countiue This is a fatal flaw Of turn-based games all kinds that involve Adavanced AI engines. it actually hapended to me once it pissed me off... OY but it hasn't hapend since. because the damn AI destroys me before i can bulid any strong ship that can actually defend itself. so bascily the game is a unfair Space Wargame

I recently had the missing TURN button problem again, and on further investigation it seemed that there were some ships that did not complete their movements... repeated use of FIND (which sometimes did not progress to a next ship) or simply checking all ships for remaining movement points allowed me to finish their movements, and I then got the TURN button back again... I realize this is an old post-chain, and Beta 4 is coming up, but still thought it worth mentioning.

For first, sorry for my english.
For second, it is almost 2 years from last reply and I am writing there with same problem. Week ago I decided to buy GC2DL because I thought that patches will fix my problem. Big mistake. My config is ACER Aspire 9815WKMi, I have version 1.5 of GalCiv2 DL. The turn button dissapear every fockin` game. What can I do or what can you do with that?

So you were playing it prior *without* having bought it?...

Anyway, if that happens it can usually be fixed by simply saving the game and reloading it.

BTW, version 1.0 is free trial which can be played without buying the game. So it is written in Licence Agreement. Bought of the game and upgrade to version 1.5 didn`t solve this bug for me. So what`s the point mate? I`m sad experiencing this problem `cos I think that this game is reeeealy good.

After save and load game offers me again to select new tech and after turn pressing same prob. Nothing but missing turn button.

On my old pc about 2 years ago I didn`t noticed this. I bought new laptop and started experiencing this bug. That`s why I bought game now and not 2 years ago. If this is your curiosness about.

Anyway, can you help me somehow?

Try saving it *after* the button disappears, then reload.

I certainly hope you mean that as a joke.

I suspect he is confusing the playable demo version with the 1.0 version.

just about 9 times out of 10 i find that the turn button issue is caused by a ship in a rally point having not cleared all its moves when the turn button is pressed, or not joining a fleet when entering a rally point.

most of the time once your turn button grey's out, but you still have move control you can simply hit the find button and move those ships with postive movment left. gennerally the bug occurs after your auto pilot moves have happened, therefore it doesnt take too long to find the bugged ships.

I don`t know. I got the game from one guy as a copy of his instalation cd. And he told me that I don`t need serial number if I don`t want update it. And somelike that is it written in that licence agreement. So I thought that it`s some type of free software. It looks like I thought wrong. I didn`t try your advices yet. Next reply you`ll see.

Hi All, just my 2 cents. I have seen this when setting up a rally point ON an existing ship. In my case it did relate to that ship never finishing its turn. Repeated 'finds' followed by moving the ship and reseting the rally point and it was all good again.
