Crash to desktop

I have been having a problem with the last release with a crash to desktop. There is no error message or anything in my system error log to explain it. I am playing, flicker, desktop. This is normally hideously rare except when i destroy a colony, if I do that then its almost guaranteed to crash within a couple turns.

Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Yeah know what you mean . . . I get the same here, I save immediately after abandoning a system. The worst I've had was in a maso game (lol I flatter myself) where I destroyed 3 colonies simultaneously just befor a multiple invasions . . . hehe! This caused the dreaded 'RED' screen crash (wierd general area of play all red)) with all the panels and boxes empty. I guess the AI wasn't expecting it? :notsure:

I worked out the archeological 100 (non-fleet stacked) corvet find caused an apparent 'freeze' when the event occures (on my system anyway)? I'm playing 1.05 . . . the events probably been scrapped in the Beta (hopefully).

I autosave every turn...

After playing it for say over 24hours straight I find it gets a little sluggish.. with lots of HD access.. after about 36 hours it crashes on me.. any i just restored from the last autosave.. (BTW .. Is 48 hours for military conquest on a huge mape about the average to get a good score .. i just scored 9050 mvp)

Zhakrin, please install SmartException from the Free Stuff tab in Stardock Central.  If it is running when GC crashes, it will pop up a dialog. Click submit, then Open log directory. This should open a folder with a file GalCiv.exe.cra.  If not, the file should be in the folder where SmartException was installed.  Send the file to me at [email protected].

Same thing happens to me. Can't seem to narrow it down to a single event, but I'm downloading Stardock Central now to install SmartException and see what's going on.

I only have the demo right now, and had a single crash event like that (flicker/desktop/no info). In mine, I had reloaded a save (non-autosave iirc), changed my planets to auto-launch ships, hit end turn and it crashed. I reloaded the save, made the same changes and it did not repeat. Don't know if that helps, but if it is deep enough in the prog that it can occur with the demo, then perhaps this will help narrow down the possible places to look for it.
