Starport and Shipyard questions/suggestions

Do starports have different build rates or is there just one build rate? If there are different rates then it would be good to see some indication of the buid rate displayed.

With shipyards, I find that I usually access them to design a new ship just prior to building that ship or those ships. I access the shipyard through the starport screen but when I am done with my designs I find myself back on the main map, not back at the starports. If I am designing multiple ships to be built at multiple starports then it would be excellent to be able to list my starports (also seeing the build rates here would be useful).

I decided that I needed a colony ship with greater range. I when to the shipyard and selected the colony ship. I pressed the upgrade button. I was greeted with a picture of the colony ship and many of the structure points showed as used, but none of the components were listed. I'm not quite sure what I was supposed to see but I expected to see all of the components that the ship contained and I expected to be able to add or remove any of them.

The Colony Ship is a specially modified ship that would not normally be possible to build. IIRC, Stardock has said they'll bring it in line with the game mechanics when the mechanics become a concern down the road.

Each planet has a number of shields (military and social) available based on the planet class, production improvements on the planet, and your tax rate and spending rate. The build rate for a ship at each star port depends on the number of "military" shields the planet produces (on the planet main view) and the ship's cost (number of shields to build it). When you select a ship on the starport view of a planet the time it takes to build that ship is shown as "build time: xxx weeks". Note that the build time can decrease for a ship you are building on a turn when you complete a factory.
