Custom race and Starport

Just a couple of things that I noticed right off. When I build a custom race my ships are not lighted so all I see is black silhouettes. They are very difficult to spot on the stellar map and, of course, all the cool effects are totally missing.

In the spaceport screen I see whatever ship I am looking at currently but I do not see what ship my spaceport is building. It would be helpful if there were some area that always showed the current build order. In fact, a build queue would be very useful as I do not always want to build the same ship again.

In Beta 1 when ever anything was built a drop down icon indicated when the item was completed. These were somewhat annoying since, when the game had progressed, you could end up with a lot of them popping up almost every turn. I see that they have been removed from this beta. However, once I've built a starport on a planet I'd like to see that so I can issue build orders for it. Would it be possible to either make those show up at all times or to allow a user selectable option to have them show up? I'd like to be able to select if I want to automatically go to my build queues when either I've built a new starport or one of my starports has completed it's current build. However, since I may want a specific planet to keep building my mega-destroyer, I would like to select that that one planet keep building over and over until I select otherwise.

I'd also like to add that the current system with the drop icons is good, but is missing a feature.

Instead of only taking us to the build queue for the starport, could it also center the camera on the planet being built from? This way, you click on the icon, change the queue if you want, and are staring at the ship you just built.

Black Ships with Custom Races: This can be fixed by setting your race's ship color in the Appearance tab when designing your custom race.  In the future, though, we will be making the default custom race's colors more noticable.

Cant See Ship being Built on Starport Window: Good call..we'll get that into the UI.

News Icons: Those are still in the game, they've just been moved to the right side of the screen.  This mechanic still has some tweaking to be done, but I don't see any reason we can't have an option to turn it off if people get too anoyed by it.

Would it be possible to set what types of News gets an icon dropped down? That way we can tweak what is reported to us and from where. That would be really cool. Thanks

You mean put an option to turn off planet construction news, but leave research reports on?

Yeah, I could totally see some toggles in the options screen to set what news items you want to see.  THis sort of customization will make the feature more robust and less annoying for players that don't want to use it.

..On the topic of custom Empire Color.. I chose purple as the color for my empire and found myself right next to the Yor, also purple. On the big map, our borders were visble, but on the little map, it was harder to tell the who's who.

And, since I'm here, Toggles for news sounds good.

I would want more then just planet construction on or off. More like don't tell me if Type X ship gets built but tell me if Type Y ships. Don't tell me when buildings are constructed but tell me if some form of Terriforming is completed. That is the type of control I want over the reporting given to me.

I seem to be getting only the icons for ship construction and research. No facility construction icons are showing up. I thought this was a change to the game but from what I've gathered from reading other posts other people are getting construction icons.

Any ideas?

Construction icons no longer pop up whenever a planetary building is completed, they only pop up when a planet's queue runs out of buildings and it needs new assignments.
