It's vaguely related to your contributions to the game and forum. And you have to get noticed doing that too.

Yeah be a top player(I think) or helpful on the forum and you can be a vetern. Answering alot of questions about the game is the only reason I can think of that I'm a veteren as I've only submitted one game and it wasn't that impressive.

I don't pay much attention to those. I help those that need it, chastise others that deserve it. And what the devs think of that is their concern, and something I cannot change anyway. But if a dev reads this, I'd recommend EBZ for veteren status.

Hate to seen supporting a Pirate, but must throw ANZAC support behind the veteran recommendation for EBZ...

I kinda suspect you will be promoted once you publish your GCCG, EBZ.

Creating a guide is quite a contribution to me. Same goes for Gibbie and Ralegh.

It is better not to be tempted to ask for what will lead to a cycle of self-consuming greed. Wanting veteran will lead to the curse of wanting diplomat which will lead to even greater headaches. Few of us know for sure what triggered our promotions.

I just drift along and do what I always do, not worrying whether I am earning 10,000 invisible brownie points for the next level or whatnot. Maybe one day I, Ray, or someone else will get a trip up the ladder for just being useful somehow. I just have to ask is it worth worrying about? But if you want to catch the next uberbug or make the next Know-It-All guide to Galciv or something similar in scale, knock yourself out. If it helps us all in the end, it cannot hurt your chances.

I was curious, so I looked around a bit. Neither me nor any other modder has ever been bumped from Citizen (other than HawaiiFive-O) as far as I can tell. IMO, several of us have made some very significant contribution to people's gameplay.

It's OK of course, since it's basically a meaningless title. It's like a flavorless carrot whose location you really can't make out in the first place. tbh, the fact that some part of us still wants it even if it is completely irrelevent is really much more disheartening than the fact that we don't have it

The only change that I can see is that you get access to a new forum, the "Galactic Council." This is no great reward, since that forum has had three posts in the last month, one of which is a question that was never answered, and the other two relating to the "geek test." Maybe the Diplomats and Ambassadors get something better.

Mad Maz: I'd like to do some mods. How does one go about doing that?

On the same note, how are mods installed? Are they self-extracting? I didn't see any instructions on the Library page.

I haven't noticed anything different. Then again, I also have no idea when or how I got Diplomat, and I haven't bothered looking for anything unusual either.

The creator of the mod usually includes a readme in the files, and unless they put the effort to put a self-install package in it (which is almost never for most small mods, its easy to move the files yourself anyway) you have to move the files yourself to your Galciv directory.

um, try reading some stuff in the mod forum, or check out the cdg website at http://www.cdgroup.org/ There are several forums related to specific mods there.



My mod and some of the modding utilities use an installer, so there's not much to it. Most of the other mods are straightforward enough that you really don't need to worry about having an installer. A lot of them are text files you usually just put into the Data folder. Or something along those lines. Like JMY said and said and said , just check out the readme file that comes with whatever you're downloading.
