I can tell you that all the events by me- duglis and
by pierre-luc, the drenging red ship mod by Thrull, and anything by Frogboy is safe.

I swear it.

I can't vouch for other events and upgrades and some by
Orangebear need fixing :(

Most anything you find on this site is safe to use.
Metaverse supposedly only looks for very unbalanced games.

(although one of the library events gave me a good option for 110% influence increase... world's fair type event).

Main problem with alot of the events is they're not as good as the originals... either in humor but especially in the cost/benefit value of the choices.

(Note: present company excluded -- and I never made an event so who am I to talk)

whats with the "stardock certified" thingy beside the "dangerous animals" event? i cant find any other mod in the library with the same certification. are they going to make it that the only mods allowed for metaverse submissions have to be "Stardock Certified"?

#4 HarryT,

That's an open question. It is one I (and many others) have had since the release of the game. I believe Nephrinn stopped posting his mods because of this issue.

I have played with most of the mods, and can say from experience the MV as currently designed will accept any mod by Frogboy, Duglis & Pierre-Luc. Nephrinn's are very well-balanced, but they were written for previous versions of the game, and I do not know whether updates are available.

JoB's mods are also very good, and the great majority are also acceptable. Only his Terraforming mod may be considered "unfair", since it allows the player to obtain (through tech research) the PQ+3/+7 benefits without spending racial picks on them at start. (Because of its powerful advantages, I have dropped it from my own MV submitted games. But it is a very fun mod!)

I haven't used any from Disputed Territories, I get the feeling some of them have big play balance changes.

#8 HarryT,

To my knowledge, there is no "list" of acceptable vs. unacceptable mods for MV submission. SD started to certify certain ones as acceptable in all cases, but this initiative appears to have ceased. Only Frogboy's and the one marked so were ever "officially" cleared.

I recommend trying the mods on a case-by-case basis. What I found was, some were very well written, while others proved unbalancing. Having used most of them, I now play a "vanilla" game of GalCiv, with only the bonus pack installed. Random events occur primarily during the colonization phase, and do not make much of an appearance afterwards.

I believe the MV is now accepting any modified game for submission without marking it as "anomolous".
