Metaverse Scoring bug fixed

Metaverse Scoring bug fixed

We found a bug in the metaverse scoring that caused people's scores to get lopped off too much due to older games.

That's fixed now so many old-timers will see their rankings restored quite a bit now.

Well, if my calculation are right, 26th of may looks like a great day: you will have movement that allows you to pass the 1 million points, if you have at least 2 60K submitted from here to this day ( one the 26, and one from here to the 26).

This is driving me nuts...

In the last not even 30 days.. my score has deoped (at varous times ) by a total of at least 100,000 my number of games submitted is going like a (expletive) yoyo .. The last instance... (just now) I was on 49 games again.. and a score of 664,000 now after just submitting 1 game today of 60,000 my number of games has jumped up by 2.. and my score (on top players) has droped down again to 638,891 ... if you read my other msgs that i've written over the last 2 weeks.. in here and unmder "Metaverse woes" and in the empire forum you'll see why i'm getting so (expletive) pissed off.. its getting so that I'm scared to post another game.. as whats going to happen next..

because of all this i've dropped from being 16th to being 25th.. please.. please... get it sorted out for once and for all.. so that I can once again post games and know that my score won't drop be anywehere the amount it has..

I appologise for comming on so strong but i am really getting sick of it..

While i'm complaining... howq many more games do I have to play mso to get my average level medol to change.. I now have played more than half of my games as maso or higher... and it still recons that my average level of play is painfull..

It seems to me like the metaverse is falling apart and needs a good look at before it destroys itself.. It used to be very stable

this is what just started happening to me. I submit a game, i dont gain any games (i.e. stay at 57 or whatever i have), but lose 40k points. Submit another game, gain 2 games to my total, but only get 6k points......... its all very confusing

The game count bug seems to be fixed, at least for me. 30 out of 30 just like it should be.

In other news, about people losing points due to the block thing. Ouch. But I, on the other hand, just gained 17K from an 18K because of the gaping hole in my blocks. (6 weeks since last submission.) Of course, if I can submit another game in a week or so I would see nowhere near this kind of return, but the combination of aging and rapid fire submissions are obviously killing some people in the short run. I'll let the statisticians do all the math. (I am not too good with complicated formulas.) All I know is a little break (albeit a forced one) did me good.

Lastly, Gerakken has no humility today and announces he has joined the Meta admiralty. (Rear admiral, but it works for me!) :)

Black: at least your score is coing up.. not down ..

so far in the last 24 days posting (12 games from memory) over 700,000 worth of game points not mvp and my score has dropped by over 100,000 ... and its really hitting my empires score as at the moment i'm the only one submitting..

I do understand about my first big drop (was on about the 12th of the month) as no games in my second block.. but dramatic reductions 3 times in the month is rediculous... I just build back up to where i was and then it drops again...

(i'm going into as much detail as i can to hopefully help sort things out... not doing it just to complain)

there are irregularities in your submission rate:
- no games between 12/21/2003 and 2/6/2004 (near 1.5 month)
- no games between 3/12/2004 and 5/3/2004 ( near 2 months)
So you have potentially 2 blocks that can be empty or filled with few games whose movements have huge impact on your games. Currently, block 1 (31-60 days) and block 4 (121-150 days) are empty.
As example of the huge effet of theses 2 block: if you don't submit anything and a recalc occurs the 06/06/2004, you will endup with 759K mvpts, when you have currently 639K (+120K). The filling of block 1 (3 gamse in it) and 4 ( 1 game in it) give you 147K. The -27K are explained by the fact by blocks have lost games that are gone to blocks 1 and 4.

Hope this help.

The "revolving 30 day blocks" rule seemed counterintuitive to me. I thought it should be fixed 30 day blocks, starting from your first submission. This way, you won't have the "increasing/decreasing" score effect as much.

Ahhh lost 40k on a submission so I guess I would have to agree with you.

It has been foretold it will come good soon though.

Is it you who have lost 40K or your empire due to a recalc on all members? Because your latest submission has increased your personnal score by 5K

Ok Jackey Jackey, let's see what we have:
on 05/21/2004: score 952K
on 05/22/2004: score 962K
on 05/24/2004: score 922K. It is due to the fact that the block 1 as no games.
on 05/25/2004: score 928 K
on 05/26/2004: if submitting a 60K game, 1019K

What kills you is the fact that no submission was made between 3/23/2004 and 4/25/2004, a whole month. So when this whole month correspond to a block, you score see a drastic drop. But as soon as this month is split between 2 blocks, you no longer have a block without game, and it is good for your score.

I still think it is a strange system but I am glad there are those who take the time to explain it. :HOT:

I happened to take a snapshot of the page 3 scores on June 14.

I noticed that Ray the wanderer had 83 games played and a score of 244240.

Today June 16, I checked Rays score and it shows 85 games played with a score of 251269.

Ray has not played any games since 2003.

I thought that the metaverse scoring problems were fixed. :(

Newfy eveything maybe okay older games were being dropped.

Ray may have played 85 games, 2 games were dropped. After the Metaverse was fixed the 2 games were added back into the total.

No you didn't read my post right. On June 14 two days ago he had 2 games less than he has today. How is that possible? The Metaverse was fixed about a month ago.
