Couple of Bugs?

Firslty, it looks like this is going to be a quantum leap forward from GalCiv. I had no problems purchasing the Beta, downloading or Installing. All that stuff works just fine.
I've only played the game once so far, but here are my first problems foryou!

1) No Sound. Should there be? I'm not sure as this is Beta Test
2) No Constructor craft. Can't reap those StarBase goodies without them
3) Build process for Colony ships too slow. Weeks&weeks&weeks, and I can't seem to purchase them. Oh, IMO leave the starbase build feature in. Another thing to think about (more factories or a starbase, hmmm)
4) The messages from the "news" (the pop up captions that appear now and again) are too fast. They vanish before I can read them.
5) Program Crashed (no tombstone) after about 1 hour of playing

Have you downloaded the multimedia pack from SD Central? There should be two music tracks (one for the main menu, one for the game) and sound effects if you have

As you said, this is a beta test.

Starbases and the constructors to build them will be in eventually, they just haven't been programmed in yet. (Similiarly, stuff like ship costs hasn't been balanced yet; that'll have to wait for a later Beta. I think 3 is scheduled for playbalancing.)
