Bug Reports for Altarian Prophecy Beta 3

Bug Reports for Altarian Prophecy Beta 3

Please install and run SmartException from the free stuff tab in Stardock Central so that if the beta crashes, it will generate a report that you can send to me with your debug.err files and save games.

I will want any save games that reproduce bugs, particularly crashes.  Save games in Altarian prophecy are only one file, no folders.

Please report typos in the typo thread.

Please give as much detail as possible when reporting bugs so that I can reproduce it more easily.

Here are copies of my current bug report spreadsheets so that you can search them for your bugs.  The one for normal Gal Civ probably has some bug reports that are redundant or have been fixed, but I cleaned it up as well as I could.  When in doubt, report the bug.  Also, all the version numbers for the reports may not be accurate, as I only added that field in recently and had to have a default value. So if I wasn't sure that I fixed it, I gave it the version 1.13 and left it there.  Let me know what you think about this system.

OK that worked.

I ran itno the notorious turn doens't end problem. The hourglass thingie stays up. I checked my resoucerses and ironically it said Galciv was using no cpu. Maybe that's the problem when the turn takes forever to conclude... the game rolls down cpu usages to almost nothing.

Try clicking on a planet and then going back to the viewscreen. It usually "unjams" the turn for me.

Clicking any planet? I'll try that next time. Thanks Rohan!

Cari, I'm sending you a 100% reproducable bug. In this savegame:

1. Offer peace, AND add the Minor's homeplanet to the bartering table.

2. After both Minor's have been "absorbed" into your empire, the game CTD's.

There's no sound effect when you destroy a planet with a terror star. It definately needs a big BOOM!

I don't think it's available yet to those that preordered it, to get it now I think you need Drengin.net. I seem to remember Carielf saying it would be available to those who preordered it when it's in Gamma stage, which she said at the time she didn't know when that would be.

I'm running out of bugs to report. ;-) If I move the GCLoader -- I wanted more of a full moon, well, full earth, effect -- I noticed that if I click and drag it by a letter, it flickers and jumps around, as opposed to click-drag anywhere else.

Hey, it would be neat if the loader remembered where I put it, or moved around a bit LOL

Ah, you guys don't have the wav for the star explosion.  I put it on the server.

Gal Civ 1.19 will go up tomorrow, barring mishap, as a sort of test for Gal Civ 1.2.  Gal Civ 1.2 should go up the next week.  I think that the next build of Altarian Prophecy won't go up until after 1.2 comes out.

Cari, When you say "on the server" -where is that? :)

If you mean the physical location of the server, I'm not sure if it's in the building here or at one of our other locations.

If you mean where can I download it, you can't yet because you won't have access.  But it will be in the next update.

In games with custom rules where you have a team and allied victory is enabled, you can't win if your teammates are still around. GalCiv apparently doesn't equate 'team' with 'ally.' This makes Altarian Alliance games impossible to win, because the special loss condition in that rule set is the Altarians being destroyed.

If you want to get tricky, it's possible to declare war with your teammate (removing the 'team' relations), declare peace, then (eventually) re-ally, but you have to have a very significant advantage to make that work, and on rule sets like Altarian Alliance, if your ex-teammate/ally-to-be is significantly weaker than you, they can surrender during the dozen or so turns it takes to get them back to 'close'.

I don't know if this bug has been reported yet, but I can't add any planets to the bargaining deal in the diplo screen. This always results in a CTD.

Carielf, all my problems are solved, I just restarted the computer and it works fine, no bugs so far. ;)

I like your new name Caeraine sounds good.

Damon Bryson, can you send me a save game that reproduces it?

Arturus Magi, I'll add that to my list of stuff to fix.

Sorry, Cari, now that I've reported it, my savegames no longer do that. It must have been fixed by a reboot/reload. I have a savegame that won't load, but I think it's a Beta 2 with a rally point. All my Beta 3's work fine. I'll keep an eye out for it.

New bug: I think the Wraith HP is supposed to be 80, not 800. The Paladin is 80 hp, and about the same price. The way it is, the Wraith is more powerful than an Overlord, and costs 1/3 as much.

Possible Logistics bug: My 16th starbase is supposed to cost 4000 bc. I realize I have 2 unneeded starbases and destroy them. Then my new starbase should be cheaper, right? But it still costs 4000. I think waiting for the next turn might have fixed this. Later in the game I was back down to 14, and it was appropriately cheaper.

Another possible Logistics bug: If you send a constructor to a resource, and it autobuilds (disabled popup), it will allow your money to go negative. If you manually build a starbase, it won't let you build unless you have enough money.

I have a savegame which demonstrates the next bug: My warships (dreads, wraiths) cannot enter a sector due to "out of range". However, I have nearby planets and I even have a starbase in that sector. My combat transports can enter the sector just fine. I can send it to you if you like.

Playing games at obscene in 1.49c - reported as "suicidal" at the end and in the meta... :notsure: Is this correct?

It takes a turn after aquiring a starbase for range to expand. This should be part of the next fix, though, as it was apparently in GC 1.19(b)

Cari posted in another thread that it is indeed 80 (good thing too, there were 2 or 3 of them in my game, with more than 1000 hitpoints, and it was like my ships woud just autodestroy when it apprached them. You can make the change by siply correcting it in the ships file (IIRC). I'll have a look if I can find that thread again.

I do not get many joys in my life seeing my pure blue happy face makes my day. Keeping Pure Good alignment seems next to impossible with AP. :(

Last game I played I picked only one evil event all the rest were pure good.

Arturus, my starbase had been there for many years before it wouldn't allow me to enter that sector. I've had this kind of thing happen before, but they always fixed themselves on a save/reload. This one doesn't fix itself.
