Also remember, if you don't like the 10 races in the game you can create your own.

I agree with Psyringe and Solitair: the more civs, the merrier, the more epic. While I have not (to my knowledge) played any of the aforementioned games, try Medieval: Total War. There are 16 factions give or take at the begining. To me, the beginning is more exciting than the ending, as the game world is more dynamic with so many plots and factions to contend with. Some I never interacted with the whole game (usually because they got wiped out), but the sense of epicness (is that a word?) is awesome.

Having said that, I know the original GalCiv claimed to have 30 or so minor civs..... I cannot verify this, as I kept getting the same ones during the course of my different games. Also, once I learned that they all used the same AI routines as opposed to the original 6 races (the original 5 each had their own AI and the human player makes 6), that sorta meant really that there were 7 unique civs, with 1 being cloned 30 or so times. While I do appreciate amount, I hope the developers do not do this again, unless the AI routines these civs would follow was randomized to allow for each one to be as "unique" as possible.

Btw, Mr. Solitair... could you tell me which game had 100+ empires in it? I am curious about it. Thanks.
