Point1: I don't know how this idea would be played out in developement ...... but how about an open slot in the Race Pick screen. An Open slot that allows a User to Import Favorite Pictures, to Name, and depict his own race.
I For one Liked the Elerians from Moo2 ( i know , I know , you dont have to say it. ) , But this is what i do with Galciv 1, I replace all the Alexian ( minor Race ) Pictures with pictures of the Elerians. It adds a Moo2 Invading the universe feel for me, and allows me to atleast enjoy the Old days of my Favorite Races.
For Other poeple, maybe they have a Favorite race Picture, and would like to Play that race. The Picture would not have to be an animated feature ( like the minor races of galciv 1) Just a Picture slot where you can drop in Say some online picture of the darleks or Something.
Point 2: Just to let you know: The experience that hooked me to Galciv . I was sorely disappointed in The Moo3 Fiasco, and Fiasco is calling it Nicely. I saw the advertisement in the box for galciv, and i bought it. I Had my doubts until i saw all the Similarities to Moo2. Somehow your game company managed to capture everything that was great about moo2, make it your own, and fly away with it. Galciv is The next step that should have been. it made me wonder if your company were made of of exiles from the Moo Project, but it doesn't take a Hammer to the head to see a Good concept and fly with it like you guys did. It did take Guts and vision, and i will do my part to Buy all Generation of Galciv up to Galciv 100 !!! ^_^
P.S. I was hooked when i saw the Tech robot, that reminded me of the Moo2 News Robot, well done guys !!!
