Gal Civ 1.1 scoring change vs. 1.10

Gal Civ 1.1 scoring change vs. 1.10

OK. I had to do this once . . . for data :D

Brad Frogboy posted he slightly bumped the scoring for 1.11 over 1.10 but how much the tweak would change the end game mpts (metaverse points) was unknown. The curiosity was overwhelming.

Today, I upgraded to 1.11, loaded my recent 58k mpts, version 1.10, gigantic, maso endgamesave and then refinished the game and resubmitted it. It scored 60k mpts - the cap, which is still there in version 1.11. That is at least in increase in 3 or 4% in 1.11 over 1.10 at gigantic maso. When I resubmitted, it kept the date at 10/22 but changed from version 1.10 to version 1.11.

Eventually, it will be interesting to see what sort of mpts % scoring bump 1.11 has over 1.10. If you refinish a game whether you resubmit or not please calculate the % change the new version provides. Also please note map size, difficulty level, & habitability of planets, and whatever else you think is important so we can compare 1.11 to 1.10. Please share your results on this thread so we don't have to look all over the forum. Thanks in advance. OK, off to play one. :)

it didn't show the change when I clicked on my game list

Had you already submitted it twice?

That is indeed what's going on it looks like. I dug up an old med/maso save and refinished it--it resubbed at just shy of 57k, when it was originally right around 30k (not sure exactly what it originally was since I accidentally wrote down the score from the tiny just above it :SURPRISED:)

Good thing I haven't kept most of my old saves, otherwise the temptation would be pretty strong to go resubmit them all.

This is going to really skew the metaverse if not adressed.

So have we decided that the resubmission of 1.10 games under 1.11 gives much higher scores than starting and finishing a game in 1.11? Is this only for maso?

Does anyone think they can start and finish a maso large in 1.11 and get 60k or say 57k from a medium maso - started and finished in 1.11? Stay tuned. . .

That's not going to happen. I've already put in a pure 1.11 med/maso and couple of large/masos, for 37k and 45k respectively. The problem is with 1.10 resubmissions or games started on 1.10 and finished under 1.11. I've already told Cari about it and she passed word on to Brad to see about doing something to keep people from exploiting this.

Darth. Congratulations on all the games recently. You are really dedicated. Thanks for the information. This is what I was looking for. I am getting 60k on gigantic masos under 1.11 when I got 58k and 59k under 1.10 so it is hard for me to tell right now.

It appears then that starting on 1.10 and submitting under 1.11 is the wrinkle in the metaverse that causes those 50% boosts in scoring. Otherwise, at least on maso, it looks like a game started and finished in 1.11 gives maybe a 5% boost in scoring over 1.10. Do others agree?

That's what I'm seeing Rick.

That is indeed the problem. And call me kryo, Darth is just my new Jedi title :P

That is a possible explanation. The first time, I got the new submit notice and thought there was a problem, sent it again, got the same notice. I didn't think it would could it as a second resubmit since there was absoultly no changes in the game or version. If it did count it as the second resubmit, that might explain the problem a lot of ppl are having.

Wonder why they took out the "human speak" message anyway. It's no where near April 1st. Not being a programmer, I (as others) need to be talked to like a puppy...... "good boy, you sent it right with no problem, sit, play some more". LOL

Like I said, I am not really worried about it. It did give about a 1500 increase in score. I was just glad to see better scoring for tech victories (still low imo, but oh well).

Well, I see from my latest score, it is still a lot more beneficial to hold out and get more techs. I did get a lucky draw, and was able to finish Aug 2187 on a large/crippling. Guess the scoring bonus for an early finish is not all dat. Small rewards for a military hat-trick.

I've just submitted another game, played start-to-finish on 1.11, and thus have a basis for comparison:

Maso Medium 1.10 - 24910, increased to 41100 on a 1.11 resubmit.
Maso Medium 1.11 - 27240.

Or, a 9.36% increase over a native 1.10 submission. Similar playing styles, except that this time I didn't need a Terror Star finale - the last three planets flipped. My first game without killing anyone at all! Unless you count the crews of all of those disbanded Arcean ships...

The wild 65% boost is clearly only for 1.10 games submitted using 1.11.

Couslee, remember that your Culture, Economy and Science scores all have a chance to climb in a longer game, giving you more points. For that matter, you'd probably get a better Military score as well as you'd be fielding much larger, more powerful ships by the end of a longer game.

I went back to see about that. refrained from taking the last Yor planet by force and waited for it to culture flip. I researched an additional 34 techs of 5 yrs, and more than doubled my score. This was with out fielding any more powerfull ships. The additional 34 techs equated to over 10k more Mpts. The reason for the original post? The original grip was about the early win, should get a better score. imo.
