GalCiv Retail Market

On the shelf at the local WalMart, they still have the tag for GC, at $37.95, and everytime I looked, it has been sold out. (yet the shelf tag remains)

I guess $30.00 is somewhat less than the original retail price. But GameStop usually sells a lot of stuff for less than places like EB Games.

My Wal-Mart was sold out but got a shipment in at the beginning of the week. Yesterday there were 3 left!

It is a testament to the "niche" market. Now, if we could only get Hollywood to produce some decent movies, the world would be great! LOL LOL

It's a testament to all of us turn-based strategy gamers who have hungered for something decent to come out for so long. Actually, for any decent game to come out for so long. Games where you actually have to use your brain to play seem to be few and far between nowadays. I love this game! I haven't had a game hold my attention for this long (with no signs of slowing--still working up to maso) for a long while now.

i have managed to convince the online retail shop in romania to buy the game.i made a pretty good description of the game,told them to come to the site and see how many people have posted here,but the decisive line was when i told them that the game is so good that it will have a sequel.today i got the confirmation from them:they WILL buy it in a couple of months.now that is some fine news heh brad? LOL

I tried to buy this game today only to find it's not released until 12th of sept...? (http://shop.game.net/ViewProduct.aspx?cat=1&mid=322005) I'm very confused/disappointed (:(

Especially as there seems to be rather a _large_ Europian contingent on the Metaverse and at least two major PC Games mags have done reviews of Gal Civ, and had demos on the cover discs.

Guess I'll just have to wait another week :notsure:

Am I just the only one not to have bought this over the net as soon as having played the demo out once?

Those of us in Europe who have got copies of the game have purchased and downloaded it over the web. You need at least an adsl connection and even this takes 3 1/2 hours, but you can also get the cdrom shipped from the usa direct, but by the time it gets across the atlantic and delivered to you it will be the 12th anyway...

Stupid dial-up +I'm heading off to uni in a couple of weeks where I wont have direct internet access.

Which reminds me... Nope, it looks like I won't be able to submit scores to the metaverse anyway as I won't have direct access to the net

You could keep the endgame saves that GC makes (zip 'em up or something) and submit when you do have access....

You can do that, Bob. A zipped savegame is typically over 100kb only.

No matter. He can always submit them when he gets back home.
