You can only have 20 ships in orbit?

Why is there a limit to the number of ships in orbit? I can understand if it was a one planet system, but in my current game, I have a system with 5 planets, and I'm using all of 5 of them. I should be able to have more than just 20 ships in orbit at a time. Is this something that can be fixed in the update?

Annoying which it was 20 ships per planet instead of system. I watch systems which can build more ships that the limit build constructors or farm out the extra ships to weaker systems.

The limit is 16 (2 rows of 8).  If you're leaving 16 ships in orbit, you're probably getting killed on maintenance, among other issues.

Is there a higher maintence fee for ships in orbit than not? I guess I see the point in this by the ships in orbit receiving a bonus, but how much is the maintenance? I typically keep a battleaxe in every system just in case I get into a war in the early game.

You can have any number of ships at a single location, you just can't build more at a specific system if there are already 16 in orbit of that system. Launch some and your building will continue normally.

No, but if you have 16 idle ships at a single system, they'd better be constructors or colony ships. If they're not, you're almost certainly paying too much maintanence on them, even at normal costs.

16? Hmm, I didn't actually bother to count them, it just looked like 20 to me. So unless I"m in a war, I should cut down the number of non-constructor or colony ships in orbit. I guess I can do that. I need more constructors built so I can upgrade my starbases anyway.

I like building ALOT of Anti-Matter missiles late in the game (maintanance 1). As salvos of 50+ I have to park them outside of orbit, untidy but what else can you do?
