New Halo 2 Countdown.

Hi, I'm new here, so please don't yell at me for being stupid.

I've created a new Halo 2 Countdown that is a modification of paxx's. Umfortunately, I'm having a lot of trouble with it.

1) Although it is complete, I do not have the full version of DesktopX and therefore cannot create a Widget or an Executable for it. If anyone can help me out here, I'd greatly appreciate it.

2) Paxx, you haven't been replying to my e-mails. Would it be ok with you if I distribute my version on different Message Boards and Halo-related sites? (I've included your name in the "credits" that are announced when November 9th comes around. However, if you want me to add it somewhere else or just not distribute it, just tell me.)

3) How would I go about posting the EXE here once someone converts it for me?

4) If I have audio files and images that are part of the Object, do they need to be included somehow in a folder with the EXE, or are they automatically added to the EXE when it's created?

Thank you for your help.

Well, I won't yell at you for being stupid....
So what you're saying is that you have the free version of DesktopX, you've taken someone else's work, altered it and you want someone here to help you distribute it when the original author is probably ignoring you for a reason (the one you're not being yelled at for) and you want technical help on top of that?
If you want to distribute a Halo2 countdown then why don't you just post a link on those other message boards to Paxx'x widget? And at this point who really needs a countdown anyway? The release date is less than three weeks away. Maybe you should make a countdown widget to the release of MS Longhorn, at least you'd have a few years to work on it.

or just not distribute it, just tell me

Make sure you abide by that until Paxx tells you otherwise specifically....

Well no, he wasn't ignoring me at first, he sent me the correct font that he used for the Countdown when I requested it and even said "Have fun." at the end of the e-mail, so I don't know if he's ignoring me persay. And I realize that the game's release is 3 weeks away but I like what I've done with the countdown and want to share it with other people.

And I don't want to make a countdown for Longhorn cause I'm not as enthusiastic about that as I am about Halo 2. I was searching for a countdown before and couldn't find a good one until I stumbled upon Paxx's. I just decided to modify it because 1) it only had the number of days but I wanted days, hours, minutes, and seconds (for effect) and 2) I wanted to learn VBScript and how to work with DesktopX and I thought this was a good opportunity. Now if Paxx doesn't want me to distribute it, I'm totally fine with it, just as long as he tells me that. I won't distribute it w/o his permission, obviously.

If someone can make an EXE or Widget for me for my own personal use I'd appreciate it.

I can't imagine why Paxx is ignoring you.

maxthndr here's a little advice on requesting permission to use another author's work. Send one email and patiently wait People have lives. If you are firing off mutliple emails, kinda like spam and I'd ignore you too.

Well, after he replied to my e-mail, I replied back in like 2 days and only sent him 1 more after that, but it was a correction to the 1st e-mail. I'm not spamming his e-mail, I just want his permission ASAP.

Sorry Max, I didn't realise our email required an answer. I don't have DX Pro.
As for permission, of course you have permission, I even sent you the PSD to modify as you wish. I thought it was clear.

Max, sorry for the sarcasm. Your original post gave the impression that you did not have Paxx's permission. Also bumping your own thread makes you appear impatient.

Ok, I figured you were ok with it, but I didn't wanna go ahead with it unless I was 100% sure.

And to tjesterb, I'm just used to other boards moving so quickly that a message will get like 5 responses almost instantly, so I was getting kinda impatient. I'll try to keep everything said in this thread in mind.

If anyone can still make an EXE for me I'd greatly appreciate it. Please reply to this thread or e-mail me ASAP. Thanks.

I can make a widget, which needs DesktopX installed, but not an .exe that doesn't need DesktopX installed, as i'm sure most can.

There are two kinds of EXE widgets. The ones that doesn't require Desktop X running but needs DX installed (those widgets can be made with Desktop X standard - the 19.95$ version), and those that doesn't require Desktop X installed at all (those widgets can only be made by Desktop X Pro - the 129$ version or the 499$ version). With the free version, you can't make any widgets.
I have the Standard version that can make non standalone widgets, but I don't have DX Pro.
