Help with the VCR...

One time, I was at a store before it opened, a crowd of people had gathered at the locked door waiting for it to open. A man maneuvered through the crowd, excusing himself as he went. When he got to the front of the pack, he grabbed the door only to discover it was locked. He looked at the door in disbelief, as if he was so convinced the door would be open.

Why did he think we were all just standing there?

When I see certain posts on this site, I am reminded of this. It seems many posts are people complaining about something on the site or the software, and the solution was staring them in the face the whole time.

I know we all can miss things once and a while, and I am not talking about the innocent mistake, but I am talking about the guy that does not press the next button. The guy that posts a question and says he did not want to read the thread (like he could not use the search feature). The guy that balks when something does not work, complaining about it rather than trying to get the answer from the other people that post here.

I guess this is too much to ask, maybe we should have an IQ test before people can post. Like maybe being able to program their VCR.

Argh, if only people'd read the manual. Instead, they go "yikes, this contains letters, let's just press random buttons instead and bitch about how complex this thing is".

The most striking aspect of it al, though, is that if they were to pick between a simple, easy to use vcr and a complex vcr with a boat load of features, they'd all pick the complex one, even though they'd only ever use a wee percentage of its capabilities.

Yep...So True.

And those wee percentages they only barely understand and causes great amounts of stress when they attempt to do them. Resulting in hours of labor, cussing and swearing out the manufacturer the whole time.

As a computer technician...I more frequently "fix" the user rather than the PC. Sometimes people just need to be reminded that "it" cannot read thier mind.

ppl are never gene change.
I just laugh sometimes at the calls they get on Call for Help on techTV, its off the air now but its easier for some people to learn that way.
I guess its more of an human approach and need to respect that need.
Less stressfull, loose less hair that way lol.
