Stray Kitty

I just had a really funky experience. A beautiful grey little kitty was wandering around....I'd never seen it here before.
Being the fruitcake that I am I gentled it into coming to me after about half an hour of 'cat talking' to it.
I wasn't happy to find it was a young male...discovering this as it backed up to my raspberry bushes and started shaking its adolescent little tail. (spraying)

After coaxing I got it to come to me and it purred and lovey dovey'ed and I thought I might (as it was happy and willing) hoist it to my arms for a snuggle....

at which time all hell broke loose and the little sh*t commenced to ripping half the skin off my arms and gnawing not very gently into my forearm at which time I commenced to let loose the little demon and let him find his petting and comfort elsewhere

so much for my wild kingdom conquests

I will now attempt the uncomfortable process of pouring peroxide on my gaping gashes and slather antibiotic ointment and bandaides over my injured pride....

and teach the dog what 'get the bad kitty' means

not really

dang I'll have to take a couple of days off of splitting wood

gee that's too bad!

Sorry to hear of your bad experience. My wife and I have "tamed" (somewhat) a few feral cats and it takes weeks. I guess no one needs to tell you to be more careful in the future.

Could be me but you need to watch out with cats, for serouse, if a cat isn't your, just don't touch it. I might sound very stupid at the moment but you can get a seriouse infection if 'he ripped hlaf the skin of your arms'.

I have a friend who this happend to... compare it with what happens when a dog bites you...

Little bugger all humpy and purry....heck I was thinking about maybe adopting him......

he ran off out back.....either the owls or the foxes will probably get him now.

Dang this is gonna be sore tomorrow lol

I did the peroxide thing and the anti bacterial thing and the antibiotic thing...the youngster wasn't feral....I assume one of our seasonal 'visitors' dropped him off....they tend to do that when they come up here to the country to get rid of unwanted pets.....

he was obviously not wild otherwise he wouldn't have approached me at all.....poor little bugger

ow ow dang

lol yeah I know.....but he was just a half grown little booger....probably tried to pick him up too quick....I didn't mean to scare him like that....

Geeze amazing how little things like that can get in your head and bother you though...now I'll probably be up all night listening for the critters out back.....and running to the rescue hahaha
He was so cute...and clear eyed and obviously intelligent...
I just scared him.

Hope the predators don't get him

Yeah, you gotta watch the strays. When I was in florida I got scratched froma stray and ended up with, and I'm not making this up, "Cat Scratch Fever"...I swear that's exactly what they called it. It can last from 1 week to 5 weeks. And if you get it there is nothing they can do for you, all you can do is take aspirin you ride it out. The reaction of it ranges from mild headache full blown hurl your guts out and everything inbetween. You can have one or all of them together. One minute you feel great the next your begging someone to shoot you.

Would Ted Nugent fit in here somewhere?

Footsie, if the kitty wasn't accustomed to being picked up then you scared the daylights out of him! I'm sorry you got scratched and bit, I know the feeling but he will be back. If he succumbed to the petting then he liked it and will be back for more. Just don't pick him up , he may never adjust to that.

Thank you MGiff! He was pretty calm and relaxed and happy till I got him up about a foot and a half off the ground and then he turned into a little firecracker lol. Actually I hope he comes back so I can either adopt him or find him another home. I'm not thrilled with the spraying thing though....it's nasty and with the amount of work I do in my flower beds I really don't need a cat that sprays around here....he seems to be probably around 9 mos. old or so and my concern is if he does come back it might be too late for a neutering to stop the problem...

Yeah the odd part is....I know better than to try to pick up a strange animal....he sure had me conned!!! He was so cute....all rolling and happy and when I petted him he was all lovey dovey.... *sigh

Yeah...I know better... He caught a tendon in my forearm pretty good......I have a little bit of swelling locally but some loss of motion and it's pretty painful for such a small puncture....there's alot of bruising around the teethmarks but he only really went deep with one tooth by the looks of it. I'm keeping it cleaned out and using ice packs on it periodically to keep the swelling down. I've been bitten by dogs before...it feels about the same....just smaller lol.

I've heard of Cat Scratch Fever...it's nothing to mess with! The innocent sounding name doesn't come close to describing the sometimes dangerous results...like what you described webgizmos!

Anyway......on to another misadventure today.....I'll probably get stung trying to get more closeups of bumblebees

Little 'Fraidy Bratty Kitty
by me

I onced upon a 'kitty don't'
that purred and happy danced
he rolled he mewed he blinky eyed
he pounced and jumped and pranced

I petty pretty 'kitty don't'
he happied a bit more
then with wicked eye
and kitty cry
into my arm he tore

He lanced he slashed he scrappied
my poor arm to a shred
and so deeply were the toothy holes
they barely even bled

Of course poor kitty hurried off
worried for his crime
and crossed my mind a moment then
you'll be no 'bad kitty mine'!

At which time the crimson curtain
drained running from my hand
and I'm thinking idea to play with kitty
wasn't quite so grand

My arm swells painful red and hot
the bruises deep and sore
muscles and tendons sliced and torn
I use that arm for now no more

But still I wonder where kitty went
I worry that he's lost
I wondered how he came to here
from what car was kitty tossed

I might someday find kitty
out back in the darky wood
but I think I'll try a net next time
it might turn out better good

I don't blame little kitty
for the sorrows of my pain
I must have scared poor kitty cat
and this is mine own shame

Somehow the face of kitty's dance
is still before my eyes
I hope someday poor kitty finds
lots of butterflies

to chase and pounce and play again
to purr at happy chat
instead of turn such viscious biting
little 'fraidy bratty cat

I had one of my adopted cats, do the same thing.
I rescued "Baby" from the Engine, compartment of a brand, new Pontiac.
It was wedged in there so tight, I spent 2 hours taking parts off to get her out. All the while, doing this in a Gas Station, parking lot. The car belonged to the store manager, and she had driven in to work, forty miles. That poor little cat had been in there all through the drive and the afternoon. when I got her out, she ate me up, like a chainsaw, and I swear just like the Tom and Jerry cartoons, circled around my arm chomping the whole way. Needle sharp Teeth, punctured me full of holes, and turned my Thumb to hamburger. Once I started getting her out, she shot accross the parking lot, and into the undecarriage, of a pickup truck. I thought Oh, Crap! Here we, go again. But I got her out, and into a Cardboard box. I started wiping her down with cool, towels to get her temp, back to normal, and fed her vienna sausages, on the way home. She had a cold, for a couple of weeks, from the exsposure to the engine heat. Now she's one of my favorites.

Geeeeeeeeeee

we women are kinda like that from time to time aren't we???

(cue the angelic music and radiant halo)

My arm is sore as........well...you know.... It's starting to localize now in the worst of the bites.....the other ones have finally opened up and got the infection out with a little not so gentle coaxing.... nasty!!!...

slowly but surely keeping poisoning at bay with alot of peroxide, isopropyle (ow!!! dang!!! ) and antibiotic cream and lots of ice...elevation...

sheesh!

Last nite by flashlight tracked the little bugger a ways back in the woods....was fighting with my Lar.....not cool......and like I said.....not sure if I really want a spraying cat around the wild raspberries...geeze

this is NOT my idea of fun, man.......I'm not necessarily amused by having to dress seepy wounds 3 times a day...ack

ah well.....live......let live......and learn....

Hey Mrs.Footsie...just don't try to get to chummy with the little stripped stinkers.

And when I had that "Catch Scratch Fever" it swelled up the lymph in both my elbows. That was why I initially went to the Doc, and the idiot first told me I sprained my arm. Until they did the blood tests. I had that for 3 weeks and it was not fun at all.

Hate cats. nothing to it.i cant stand those little pesky furballs, i mean they are kinda cute but when they grow up and bring dead bunnies to your door and seperate all the limbs from the body for you, thats when you start to get annoyed my cat has been doing this for the past two weeks and i am thinking of gettin a dog.

Pyro87 that reminds me of Yosemite Sam singing: 'OOOOOOOOOOOOO I cain't git alawng little dawgie......I cain't even git one that's small.....I cain't git alawng little dawgie! I cain't git a dawgie at all!!!!!!!'

Uh thangk ya thangka berry mush

o man webgizmos!!! I used to have a pet skunk named Sweety That doesn't sound like any fun at all!! The scratches are already almost healed up...no problem with those...bites are finally doing better too....will just take a little time now..got the infection pretty much resolved

But Pyro, they do that to show they love you! Did you ever see the thread I posted with the snake picture that my baby brought me? Alive. Inside the house???
Ah, Miss Melanie....sure glad that was your cat what brought you that present! In my opinion, the only good snake is a dead snake! Outside too!
Ha, I agree with you! She's not done it again!
yeah i guess youre rigth Mgiff. how thougthful the cat seperated the limbs and the head from the body so that i would have less work to do not. i dont eat dead bunny, nor alive. and especially wnot when my cat prepared it for me i still want a dog more than any cat. GERMAN SHEPARD

I was laying comfortably on my couch, half dozing watching tv...a peacefull quiet eveining, all of a sudden, I grunted as my oldest cat.. chipdip.. pounced on my belly. and what the heck was that thing on my chest?..Oh No, a mouse, I sat up quickly screaming to get the mouse and the now baffeled cat off me !~! I got the mouse off me, and instead of just falling to the floor, it ran..a live mouse I saw the mouse heading for the hall closet...nice gap under all doors..hmmm. I grab chipdip, the cat haha and open the closet door flinging the cat in headfirst. Now the whole famdamily has arrived to see what all my screetching was for....4 cats watching me, while the 5th sat back looked at the mouse, now clearly hiding in my shoe. Well it took an hour to catch the mouse Even after catching the mouse and waving it under my cats nose, they just looked at me kinda funny.
I mean really, my cat had been so kind to give me a gift, the least I could do was hold onto it

Yes Mrs _footsie_ us women are all alike Suckers for a sad story and a cute face

Well at least I'm not the only one covered in scratches! Misery loves company. If ya wanna see the critters that think my legs are treetrunks check out my desktop image

I am also constantly getting scratched up. I got scratches ontop of scratches. My wife says I look like a patchwork quilt sometimes. I invariably am in the shortest route to whatever my kitties happen to be going after at the time. I have 12, so i end up as part of the race track quite frequently. Not to mention Top Springboard, Launching ramp, and quick turn around. And let's not even begin to talk about bath day! My latest problem is that, My wife collects thimbles, and several of the Cats have discovered her thimble racks hanging on the wall, which are precariously close to a napping spot. You know Thimble roll, and bat very nicely. I get to catch Hell! all of a sudden they all become my Cats as well. when they are Bad Kitties, they are mine, and when good, they are community Kitties.

Knatzz! Your babies are beautiful! I had a siamese once, greatest cat that ever owned me!
MySecret, you're not alone. When my Hoopty caught his first mouse, of course he brought it to the first place he could think of. To me, in bed! He was so proud. Now if I can just get both of them to kill the birds before bringing them in......
