Opera/Firefox/IE Who uses what

I use Opera (7.51 at the moment) Love it! In case you haven't discovered it yet, here's one of my favorite pages for customizing Opera http://nontroppo.org/wiki/CustomButtons 

I use Mozilla FireBird 0.7, I found FireFox to be a bit too bloated for my liking.

Just started playing with Firefox - its fine and a little faster than IE, but I'm not ready to make it my default browser. This site for one doesn't work perfectly with it yet. But its nice to have a decent choice.

I really like Opera's speed and tab features, though I've been using Firefox 0.9 lately. I have had no trouble with this or most any other site[ with Firefox]. Sometimes I have trouble DLing from WC in Opera, for some reason instead of DLing it launches Winamp. I also like the DL manager in the Mozilla/Firefox browsers. I only use IE for a handful of sites that will only work in IE. If the site designers would set up their sites for non-MS compatibility I could do without IE altogether. ['though as noted in a couople other threads SDC operates on the IE engine]

I tried Opera 7.5 when it came out and found I liked it much more than previous Opera versions so I've been using that at home almost exclusively. It seems pretty speedy to me. Firefox is a good alternative to IE also. It's still in development and some people might run into occasional quirks or crashes or not be into the "build your own features" concept with the use of various browser extensions.

Both browsers' sites have links to more info (tips, etc) on using and customizing the browsers. And support forums which can be very useful also.

Just a note: even if you don't use IE as your primary browser, as long as it's a part of your OS you should still keep IE and the OS updated with the latest MS patches.

IE here. Never felt the need to migrate to anything else.

I use regular mozilla 1.7 right now. For some sites I *HAVE* to use IE, because the site maker is too pig headed to understand, or just plain lazy, that not everyone uses IE exclusively and makes the site only work properly with IE.

The browser debate seems to be going on in multiple threads.

Opera 7.51 here...been using since 6 or around there...
I love it, once in a while I go to Mozilla or Firefox just to convince myself I've tried the others, but I always end up going back to Opera for one reason or another...
The wand is one thing I like a lot that other browsers don't have. There's a few sites I browse that I have multiple logins for, and the wand is the only one that can really effectively do more than one..

IE. If it ain't broke, don't mess with it is my philosphy (especially with computers). I cannot tell you how many times in the past I installed something, later to find the destructive power it possessed, or I possessed...that is another story.

Looks like the double posting bug is rearing its ugle head against me. Anyone know how to fix it, last time it just stopped.

MYIE2. it's sweeeeet. compatability of IE, little more secure, little faster. tabbed browsing. looots of fun CONSTRUCTIVE features (like turning off images, or using mouse gestures).

firefox is supposed to be a slashed down version of the thunderbird suite.. how is it bloated? resources?

Thunderbird is the stand alone email client (and newsreader), Firefox is the stand alone browser. There have been some changes/additions to FF/FB since 0.7 and I'm guessing MP finds 0.7 leaner than 0.9. I haven't yet tried 0.9 but compared to some other apps I'd be surprised if it would be considered "bloatware."

sorry, mozilla suite, that's what i mean.

Firefox .9 is a lot leaner than previous versions, it doesn't make sense to stick with .7 as it lacks some features. It may work for you, but I find .9 works the best yet.
I tried Opera, but never could get used to its clunky interface. I also used MYIE2 for a time, that is until Firefox became available. There is no going back, except for the WindowsUpdate and occasional problems with IE specific sites. Still it works the best for me and if MS cares about IE they sure don't show it. I want to use a program that has people working on it.

Opera's 7.5x interface can be streamlined considerably. I also didn't like the default with all the stuff taking up space so I configured it to be more minimalistic. But FF is pretty cool too.

Crazy Browser. It's easy to use. No hassles.

Crazy Browser as I recall is an IE shell. Of the IE shells I prefer MyIE2, but Avant is also popular. (Just thought I'd toss that out there in case anyone wants to look into those. Bascially they all use IE but add more features.)

Opera 7 - Very fast.

I was using IE, but I just got a DirectTV Tivo so I can watch The Screensavers every night and IE started reminding me too much of Swiss cheese, so at the moment I'm using Firefox 0.9.1. But I'm thinking of giving Opera a look. As a note- I replaced Outlook Express with Thunderbird while I was at it.

Looked at Opera. Don't want to have to pay for my browser and I don't want ads.....

I use mozilla..I love it.I dont use the e-mail chat or the newsreader..if i need to use ie i choose slimborwser...basically an addon like myie ...but similiar to mozilla. I ve tried opera and firefox but wasnt impressed with either I get rid of all the default settings and use a very few icons etc
