I finally upgraded the ol' PC

My old PC setup:

Dell Optiplex GX110
Pentium 3 @733 Mhz
256 PC-100 SD RAM
6 Gig HD
16x DVD-ROM
52x24x52 CD/RW
4 meg Video card (onboard video, Intel 810)

My new setup:

New case
400 watt Powermax PS
new Chaintech mobo
Pentium 3 @733 mhz (Why get rid of it if it still works?)
256 megs of Corsair DDR 2100 RAM
40 Gig 100/133 Ultra DMA MAXTOR HD
16x DVD-ROM
52x24x52 CD/RW
8 meg Savage X AGP 4x vid card w/TV out


So did I do good? and your thoughts on more inexpensive upgrades are welcome.

wholy cow where you find a 8 meg v card ? mines got 256 meg ddr. do they even make 8 meg cards still?

looks like a good "inexpensive" upgrade... more hard drive and faster memory. The extra video RAM will help too.  I'd recommend adding another 256 of RAM when you can.

Do you notice any imporovement in speed?

i've got an 8 meg 3dfx OVERLAY card from Monster Voodoo.. like ages old i want to put it in something just to see what happens.

harddrive speed = key. kona, for prolly 20 bux you can find a tv tuner card with 16 megs of memory that could be fun to play with. watch tv 'n all that.

Forget 16mb...for about $35, you can get a 64mb GeForce4MX or an ATI equivilent...

I know, I know, MX is the lower-end line of Nvidia's gfx card output, but it would be a helluva lot better than a 8mb card...And nearly as inexpensive.
