yeah, you are right, when you submit something and somebody else is using it you are 'sharing' something, if you are using something from someone else you are 'stealing'

Botheration. If you never said a word no one would have known it was your screenshot. It's a nice pic: no one was holding it up to ridicule. An Admin was just using it an example of how easy it would be for some to "borrow" the wall in a manner not kosher, which is the point of this thread. As far as I can tell what he did is allowable under the site's TOS. And if Jafo said you were emailed to notify you of the issue with the screenshot, I'd believe him. Perhaps there was a problem in transit or another problem, but you are complaining about not being notified and evidently an email notification was indeed sent to you.

Furthermore, there's a significant qualitative difference between an Admin illustrating a potential problem using a screenshot that was uploaded to this site (for the express purpose of being viewed by others) and someone "ripping" another's work or distributing it without permission.

I'd give the refund and hold the screen door at the exit...

Just remember that a 'screenshot' is not a skin, or an artwork, it is a screen-capture of a desktop in action, and in this case of another person's art.

I do not care about your screenshot, or whose it might be, and the idea that my posting this thread was in some way taking credit for your screencapture is quite frankly ludicrous, if it weren't absurd, but WE DO care about the artist's property displayed within and publicly distributed without appropriate consent/s, hence its rejection.

This is a painfully simple [I thought] concept to understand.

Bottom line is that when at all possible, copyrights need to be respected.

What was the question you didn't get answered?

My original question was... why wasn't I notified of the rejection. I later found out that I was but their email server was having problems. Second question was Ok... I understand why it was rejected... now why wasn't I at least notified..or attempted to be notified... that my screenshot was actually going to be used.
Jafo then concentrated on trying to make it sound like I thought screenshots were art... masterpieces that should be glorified and bowed down to the uploader or something. Then accused me of giving out bogus email addresses... and eventually accusing me in an email of being obsessed with prepubescent teenage girls represented in Japanese Anime.
I don't care about the screenshot.
I don't care about the fact that he used it. I just wanted a respectful notice of that fact.
I don't think screenshots are art... or skins... or that they show having any talent whatsoever.
I do think that there is a double standard here... pay attention on screenshots and who they are submitted by... and what all they show. I too have taken walls from them and have gotten my standard of what a screenshot is aloud to show by them.
I also requested, because of this, that my subscription from wincustomize be given to someone else... preferably someone who really wants it and can't afford it. Meaning... I will never use it after this... so someone else might as well.
