folder help

does anyone know of a program to password protect folders on the hdd? so someone useing my pc would have to know the password to open it to see its contents... im running win xp home and it dont have no encryption method from what i read in the win xp help and support witch i accessed from the start menu... it said only win xp pro has it so any help would be great....i want to keep my nosey wife from looking in certin folders i cant use the hide folder attrbute as she has figured out how to unhide folders and files .....im not going to say whats in the folders cause of the little eyes that might read this fourm

You might want to put a password on your account and create another for your wife. This way she can only use and see part of the entire content in your PC.

I use a program called ddcrypt. It's freeware and works very well. You can find it here.

I used Magic Folders a while ago. The folder just disappears, and you can hide the executable in multiple places such as your registry, ini files etc.. so that no one knows that it is even running. You can even change the name of the exe and the program folder so that it looks like a common windows folder. And the last time I remember, it was free. It even hides your files in Dos. It is password protected too. so your files will reappear easily when you enter the password. And, it doesn't encrypt so, your files are safe. But, there is also an encrypted version. The version I used was free, I don't know about the updated or XP versions. But, you can try it. http://pc-magic.com/
