J.Nay....one of yours in particular was simply an image [of some sort] with a simple swirl filter used to distort it and turn it into a spiral blob.

Simple filter use, like that, or for example lens-flare effects 'may' look like 'WOW' when you do them but are generally bland and banal, if not simply trite.

To translate....everyone does them....like dolphins and palm trees in Bryce.

Try to steer away from filters as a 'creativity tool'....they are generally crutches for the unimaginative...
