In reality, I am for anything that keeps healthy competition. Linux is good because, if nothing else, it is waking others up and keeping them on thier toes.

NOTE: not all progams used on linux are free, however, the thing is correctly called a gnu. linux is the kernel, and the gnu is a free computer with free programs. people who make new variations of gnu/linux might not know that, and therefore force people to have to buy. think of it as a way back to the greedless utopia of long ago.

Ok I have decided to risk my life in here Yeah I really haven’t used Linux or Mac for a fair enough amount of time to know if I could get used to them, I have bought every Windows, starting with the 9x series then 2000 and finally XP. The only two operating environments I use today is either Win 98 or Win XP pro. I would not however want to fly on an airplane powered by Windows, think about that for a minute, this airplane powered by Windows?

Yeah right, at 20,000 feet the pilot gets a message an error has occurred would you like to send a message to Microsoft? …. As a plane filled with screaming passengers praying to god plummets to earth.

I would not want to fly in a airplane powered by MS Windows either.

As far as the contest goes, hacking a site running on Linux was worth more points than hacking a site running on Windows. The larger number of Linux hacks tells me more hackers were out to rack up the big points. This is just like when Presidential candidates mostly focus on targeting states that hold the most electorial votes. Also, these statistics don't say what security measures if any the sites that were hacked used. Maybe sites with little cash flow that use Linux for it's low cost cannot afford good system security staff.

hey tech I am going to say that at least your not trying to defend OS X like I was a few months back. But after playing around with linux I must say Windows XP is more secure and holds up better. Sorry

anyway the fact I see is that most linux admins have the mind set that they are safe from any sort of hack. And tend not to do much of anything to protect their network entry points around such machines.
This sort of cad mindset is what exactly is attracting the hacks.
In the end its a good thing. Finally the holes will become more obvious.
Just because one has not exploited the hole does not mean it does not exist.

Before you refere to me as anti linux. Let me tell you I use 3 linux file servers at work I have two installs at home. I just want ppl that seem to think its bullet proof to know it is NOT.

Electrical Impulses can be trapped and re-turned to data for display or storage and every IO device in a computer sends out EI.

Which blows the concept of Air Firewalls out the window, literally, hence the smiley behind my mentioning it in the previous post. I have had Network Engineers make that statement in a room full of people and had to hold myself back from cracking up.
