photoshop ..How do i make a .bmp background Transparent ..Requesting HELP!

You cant give a .bmp a transparent background. You have to use .gif as far as I know.

..or a .tga

or a B&Q

If the proggy you are making the bmp for uses 'magic pink' as a transparency....that is coded into the proggy....the image is simply a straight bitmap, where the transparency is read by the proggy to be 255,000,255 or 'magic pink', chosen because it was a colour unlikely to be used in any general graphics.
As long as the bmp is saved [without any aliasing] to straight 256 colours or higher the proggy 'should' read the pink as transparent....

'without and aliasing' = 'without any anti-aliasing'

grayhaze...'without and aliasing' = 'without any aliasing' as I said....meaning 'anti, or otherwise'...

'aliasing' = with hard edges
'anti-aliasing' = without hard edges

therefore

'without any aliasing' = with smooth edges
'without any anti-aliasing' = with hard edges

If you save an image using magic pink 'without any aliasing', you get a pink halo round the final image where the magic pink isn't pure. Bad Jafo, bad!

And yes, I know I typed 'and' instead of 'any', but you know what I meant.

Again....The idea was for this person to leave the image alone...for it to be a straight bitmap and references to 'aliasing' was intended to explain 'don't mess with the image' in other words a 'straight bitmap' with no affectations of ANY sort......good grief I can't be any clearer....my mistake was in pre-supposing the guy didn't know what 'aliasing' was in the first place so I wasn't about to confuse him with its antithesis....

yeah, you could use magic pink indeed, (#FF00FF) just select the outer colour with the wand tool and delete it, it might be that you have to cut some white pixels away to get it nice.
