PNG vs TGA in Skinstudio (what do you think?) - feature voting

I have a question about usefulness of a feature.

As you know WB uses TGA for translucent images that require alpha channel. I've heard some complaints about how bad TGA support in image editing programs is, but i wanted to hear it again... Have the TGA support improved in PS and PSP over time enough to just use TGAs or would you rather want Skinstudio to fake them with PNG's?

Do you or do you not dislike TGAs?

It would work just like an other visual styles editor does for 32 bit bitmaps. On skin open Skinstudio would convert all TGAs to PNGs and set skin to use PNGs, so it looks like you edit PNGs, but on skin save it converts them back to TGA so WB could actually use them.

.png files seem to work in most grahics programs better than .tga's do (I think I read somewhere that PSP8 has broken .tga somehow), so I'd vote for .png.

the problem isn´t that TGA is badly supported in image editors (at least not in PS, no clue about PSP). the problem is that there are so many variants and modi of that format what makes it hard for the unexperienced user.
as i might use the program soon, i´m all for PNG.

PNG are a breeze to create and work really well. I'm all for PNG.

PNG's would be great. I hate using TGA's and frequently get odd white antialiasing in my images when doing them in PSP.

YES, YES, YES, PNG support please!

werewolf... you're correct PSP8 really screws up tga with alpha channel, making them completely invisible in WB.

for me png's is easier, so i wote for them

... since when does a program able to post topics?

I wonder if Object Desktop will post something? for that matter, I wonder if it will create something.

Well... PNG. But id SkinStudio (of which is you) transforms png's into tga's upon saving then I don't see the problem.

I see a problem because I often directly modify the image in the WB directory without going through Skin Studio. I'd much rather WB directly supports PNGs rather than having SS convert the PNGs into TGAs.

Yeah, I don't quite understand the part why the png's would still have to be converted ?

Personally I don't have a problem with tga files. But if it would make easier for people using different programs than me to use pngs, I'd be all for it.

What I would like to see, though, is either tga or png support for the window borders. Having the buttons all nicely anti-aliased is great, but it doesn't look so hot if the same type of corners are on the window frame and they aren't anti-aliased. Know what I mean?
