Uninstall Start 8

Start 10 in Windows 10

from Stardock Forums

Like Gott2, I got the same message when trying to uninstall Start8.  Says, can't do it while parts of Start 8 are running.  I went to Task Manager and did the "End Task" with Start8, but still no uninstall.  Parts of Start 8 still running.

 

By the way, I knew a Gott family in Livermore, Ca a Lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn time ago.  The Momps name was Sandra.

Have you tried manually removing the files? Can you post a screenshot of the error you're receiving?

Good Day, The Gear,  After I posted my issue with uninstall of Start 8, I went thru the uninstall procedure, got the error "Start 8 still running", I checked the file running and can't remember how I did that (I was wandering around in the forest).  Anyway, in the uninstall process, even though the error says "Not", I said continue anyweay and much to my surprise, it uninstalled it

Originally I had Win 8 with Start8.  I upgraded to Win 10 and I tried to install Start10.  Got error "Uninstall start8 first.  Now, I clear and wish I could detail how it happened.

Glad to hear you got it all sorted out. Most likely the Start8 service was still running and needed to be turned off.

There is a "Turn off" Button in Start 8 and or Start 10?

The service can be turned off from Task Manager - Services.

There is also an unload button in Start8tweak.exe and Start10tweak.exe.

Hi. 

Did stop it in the task manager thingie... and opened the uninstall.exe, but all I got is this message "Invalid start mode: Archive name" something..

I am having the same problem. I have uninstalled Start8 and stopped all the processes in the Task Manager. I try to install Start10, I get a prompt to uninstall Start8 and reboot before installing Start10. I look in the Remove/Add Programs and Start8 is gone. Any recommendations on what to do?

I have tried to unistall Start8 and when I try to uninstall I get the error:  Invalid uninstall control file C:\Program Files (86x)\Startdock\Start8\Uninstall\uninstall.xml

How do I uninstall this program, I don't need it anymore.
