Those are really good Terran Destroyers from SOTS. Can only imagine how tedious it would have been to make the node drive ring.
actually, it wasn't that bad- I actually made the ring first, since I was just fiddling around making rings out of various parts. it helps that it ended up being perfectly sized for ten-degree increments, so once I had a custom part for the segments, all I had to do was set the angle-snap to ten degrees and do some quick arithmetic to figure out how many parts I needed. then, of course, I simply made each variant by modifying the initial ship, rather than fiddling around rebuilding the whole thing each time. it took me about four hours to build the ship (I spent a lot of time fiddling with the ring diameter to get it to look right) and the remaining ships took about a half-hour each after that- which isn't surprising, since I was essentially only building a third of the ship, the part that in SOTS would be the Mission section.
and since I used the Torpedo and Spinal Mount sections as bases for two of them, those took even less time, since they share a core hull.
some more examples:
C&C ship, complete with the Giant Spinny Disk Thing and spinny radar dish
A variant intended for Beam/something hybrids (you'll be able to tell my Beam ships, as I'm fond of using lights as the beam apertures or strips)
another destroyer hybrid variant, this one intended for kinetic/missile types.
*battle Music plays in the distance* who doesn't love the ol' Battle Bridge/Armor Cruiser?
