I don't anything about modding but I'd really really like to get this to work. I've downloaded Star Trek vs Star Wars mod. Thing that I have noticed is that setting a technology rate in game to very slow is still very fast on a gigantic map. So I've tried to mod the tech rate to make it slower but without success. What I did is I downloaded a tool Research & Construction change program from http://library.galciv2.com/index.aspx?m=410. Then I used it to modify TechTree.xml located in C:\fun\GalCiv2Ultimate\Twilight\Mods\Data. I've used the tool to increase the tech cost by a factor of 5 then copied pasted and overwrote the original file. When I started the game there was no change. Also there was another folder named TechTrees. It contains xml files of every races tech tree, all named RACE NAME_TechTree.xml. Since I play with romulans I used the same tool on Romulan_TechTree.xml as well, and increased the cost by a factor of 5. Still no change in game. I read a guide https://www.galciv2.com/mods/gc2modsdoc.htm#ModdingGC2Data and if I understood it correctly it basically says that increasing the cost of technology will result in more time needed for it to be researched. I'm probably doing something wrong and I can't figure out what. Any help would be appreciated.
