Some questions regarding the modding of these subjects.
I am currently working on a mod for Galactic Civilizations II: Ultimate Edition and have ran into some hurdles. I was redirected here by the official Star Dock tech support so hopefully I'll finally be able to get some answers.
Can you create custom super abilities? If so how is it done? All I know thus far is that you can re-assign a given races super ability using the proper numbers in the RaceConfig.xml file.
I've been modding minor races and have run into some issues. Example race: 'Blob People'. Whenever you rename their planets or star systems in the files, the game still defaults to naming the star 'Blob People' and the planets 'Blob People I, Blob People II. . .all the way to Blob People V'.
As far as I can tell this is a hard-coded reaction for minor races since I've successfully created custom star systems for major races using the exact same techniques as those I used for minor races in that I edited the appropriate .xml files.
I am looking for a way to override this so that when a minor race appears it uses its proper custom star system and planet names.
If anyone has any information on this matter whether it's related to the cause of this phenomena or how it can be circumvented I would greatly appreciate it.
