Crash when the first UP issue is held.

Maybe this has been asked before. Do you know why it crashes when the first UP issue should come up? I did not install the UP-Issue from the library, but nearly every event from there if this has anything to do with it(?).

Is there anything I can do (e.g. deleting all new files (even though I have installed that many, so I don't know, what's from stardock and what's from the library), or do I have to install it anewly?

thanks for your help!

It's possible there's a faulty UP issue in the mix.  Move all those files to a BAK folder somewhere (if you want) and extract the below file to the "Data/UP_Issues" folder. Let me know if you still get the crashes :)

Thanks for your help, I did as you said, but it doesn't work. The savegame still crashes at the first UP-Issue and in a new game I've encountered a CTD when meeting the Altarian. I'll try a complete reinstall, then putting the things from the library one by one into the game to see which of them causes it to crash.

Quellar, I don't know if you've already reinstalled, but if you haven't, could you post a copy of your debug.err file here on a game where you've crashed at the first UP meeting?

It could be a parse error, a quick glance at the debug.err file would tell me.

If you've already installed, good luck!

I've already reinstalled, I'm sorry. Next time I'll post it. :)

@all
I've checked the following Library Events - none of them caused a crash (at least, till now :)) and therefore they can be used.

Ancient Age
Android
citywonders
Diplomat
Escape
gtcolonyday01
gtrats01
IndustrialCity
LettheRaceBegin
lifeform
Matrix
storms
sunflower
Time Travel
Vader

Furthermore all technologies found in the library are useable along with the new anomaly (terraforming device - even though I thought 2% was too much and so I decreased it to 1%.)

Regarding the other event files, well maybe they haven't got the right NAME. The ones above are called (par example) event_vader.pcx and vader.event - this isn't true to the other event files, which have been given quite different names for the pcx and the event file. I can't imagine, why this should cause any troubles though...

We'll test - and see.

No worries, thought I might be able to spare you the trouble.

Regarding the pcx file name versus the event file name, it doesn't matter. What matters is that the correct path is given within the event to point to the proper pcx file. You could call the event Blue.event and the pcx Green.pcx and it will work fine as long as the setting:

Image "Gfx\\Green.pcx"

is set properly in the event file text.

Please post here if you find out what mod was crashing you. I know that malformed event names will have the effect you described.

You can tell a name is malformed if:
1) It leads with a numeric.
2) There is a space in the name.
3) There are anything other than alphanumeric or underscore characters in the name.

Hey thanks a lot, this will make it much easier to find out, where's the corrupt file! No need to start the game and play 5 minutes for the first UP issue to appear. I'll check this as soon as I have some spare time. Although I have to admit, that I let myself buy Rise of Nations, therefore in the near future time will surely be a LIL bit exhausted.
