I will take a stab at it. People who actually use these things should feel free to jump in and talk about it, please.

Not too sure on this one, but I believe that this feature allows dual processor machines to use both CPUs at once to go faster.

Allows you to make a list of mp3 files on your computer to play instead of the built-in game music.

Just an general visual indication of the relative amount of money that category gets. Seems like frosting to me, because the percentage indicators tell me exactly what is going there.

If turned on, GalCiv will load some game files while the intro movie is played, decreasing initial load time ( on low-end machines, I presume ) .
