Bug!

I'm playing GalCiv2 Ultimate Edition. I'm playing an immense galaxy with 6 randomized opponents.

Everything was going OK peace-wise until suddenly, one turn, I get diplomatic messages from 3 alien civilizations. Except the messages were *blank*. I was given 2 choices, Speak To and I don't remember what the other choice was. I chose Speak To, but all I got were messages saying due to the recent outbreak of hosilities this race has decided not to speak to you.

So I suddenly ended up at war with 3 civs who had declared war on me in a *blank message* and whose declaration I wasn't allowed to try to counter.

This has got to be a bug - the blank messages and the sudden declarations of war - the game was much more realistic when civs were extorting money out of me to keep the peace.

Thanks!

I have never been able to get an AI to take back a War declaration right as they declare it.  Have you?

On how to "get back" a chance to speak with them, did you try exiting the game and re-starting it after they declared war? That tactic can be used/abused for other situations, but I have never tried it immediately after a war declaration.  If you try it, maybe you could post here your results!

The only bug I see is that somehow their message wasn't displayed. If an AI declares war on you, you can't speak to it the same turn (or several turns after) without cheating/abusing exploits. Their communication to you in the case of a war declaration is very much just that: a declaration (very one-sided).

The other choice is "Done".

The AI will eventually grow bored of extorting you for money, and will then declare war on you without further notice (them extorting money was the notice). Also, an AI that has been paid by another race to declare war, can forego extorting money entirely. Sometimes they don't extort money to begin with, but decide that your planets (ALL your planets) are much better payment.

Annoying that you didn't get the text though...
