GalCiv2 EU: Missing/blank tooltips

Hi guys,

I'm facing some serious problems with this version of the game and because of that, I'd like to ask for help.
Although the german translation of EU (even with the latest patch) is laughable and ridicolous, that's not the real deal.

The issue looks like that:

As you can see all of the tooltips ingame are blank. And it's no fun to play this way.
So I looked for a solution or at least a workaround and found some: Use Regedit to switch to the english version of the game (would also fix the translation-disaster)

So I did switch over to english... and got this:

Now I have blank buttons...XO

Funny side-note: Even after changing back to "Deutsch" (german), the Buttons remain blank.
This situation somehow bugs me a lot...

ghfghSo, could someone help me please with this? :(

This happens if the language setting in the registry goes missing or gets set to a blank value. Try this (or this one if you have 64-bit windows). Save the file and run it, agreeing to merge when prompted. It will reset it to the correct location for the English files (assuming they are installed).

Hi there kryo :)

Well... I tried something different. I found another tip in a german forum.
And so I simply copied all contens of the English folder in the German one.
It works so far, but...

I still don't have any tooltips  :X

Please open your debug.err file in notepad, and copy/paste the contents into a post here. This will give us some technical information that can help troubleshoot your problem. The location you'll find the debug.err in varies depending on which game you're playing:

Dread Lords: My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2
Dark Avatar: My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar
Twilight of the Arnor: My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor

Older versions may store the debug directly in the location the game is installed at.

Be sure to copy the debug immediately after the error occurs; if you start the game again, the debug will be erased and recreated for the new session.
