Trading over time in TA

I have been reading guides and stuff, but when I go to sell tech to aliens and hope for a steady monthly income from them, there seems to be no option to do it. The guides seem to imply that this is doable. They are, however quite old guides as I could find nothing concerning anything newer than Dark Avatar. 

Is it still possible to sell tech and require the alien to pay for it over a lengthy space of time?

Nope.  You might however be able to get them to trade you their economic treaty, which is the next best thing.  Try it and see.

Thanks for the response. Was it ever possible then? I wish I had discovered this game when it was new.

It was, I believe, possible in GalCiv I - there are certain artifacts related to that scattered here and there.

As far as I know, though, no major feature was ever removed from this game.
