Fatal Laptop Event

Hi there

Following a fairly recent laptop disaster, I'm finally getting around to re-installing GC2 plus expansions.  Installation from disk went grand...but when I tried to get the download packs, I've just spent the last hour going round in circles, entering emails, passwords, registration numbers, only to be constantly sent back to a previous or alternative screen asking me to *rinse repeat*.  Cant seem to find the download ANYWHERE, even for that matter trying to download Stardock Central.  There is (apparently) no simple screen where I can download that software, enter my info and then take it from there.

Finally when I got to the screen I thought I was going to be able to redownload my previously purchased software, it appears I have to BUY the downloads again...what gives?  Any advice before I contact [email protected]??

This is absolutely infuriating...

I can understand you frustration. The whole situation is currently a bit problematic.

Stardock Central has been discontinued a few years ago and been replaced by Impulse, which has been sold to Gamestop last year. Stardock is currently working on a new SDC to replace to old one. Here is a link to the thread about the preview.

At the moment, only the Ultimate Edition of GalCiv 2 is directly available to download from Stardock. The older versions are supposed to be available eventually, but I don't know how long that will take.

Your options currently are:

1. Wait until the new SDC is available (and hopefully the old versions of GalCiv 2, too)

2. Buy the UE

3. Use Gamestop/Impulse to download GalCiv 2 (use the same email-address and password as for your Stardock-account)

Hopefully I could help you to understand the situation a bit more.

Howdy,

In a variant of the above I finally loaded my GC2:DL (bought commercially over the counter ages ago, never got around to playing), and well I figure I should try and patch it, preferably through ya'll since its your game.

Of course, I ran into the same sort of issues the original poster had (no way to register S/N, no way to patch). And well, my first attempt to design a ship ended with a game crash, so I figure I should really patch to get up to date (Windows 7 was not even a gleam in Microsoft's eye when I bought this). I may eventually go with the UE, but would like to actually play a bit of what I have first :)

I guess the question is : If I use Gamestop/Impulse and register/patch there, does that mean I will never be able to register with Stardock when you get the new SDC up, or will the registration be valid for both ?

Thanks

Dale

End of Dale's quote

It should be valid for both. Use your regular Stardock-account to log into Impulse. You should then be able to register the game.
