How to make image look good for a bootskin

Assistance making a boot image

Can someone help me i need to know how to create a boot image with out loosin a lot of the details.

Number One requirement is that it is in 4-bit colour.....that's 16 colours total.

If an image can be 'dithered' to 16 colour palette and look OK then the Bootskin will be too ...;)

thats the problem when i try to make it 4 bit 16 color it looks awful

 

i've seen some images that look real good even in 4 bit 16 color is there any secret to it

I 'could' have used either...in that context as both noun and verb are appropriate for the sentence...;)

IR Brainiac....being the Master of bootskinning.... did a tutorial to pass on how he had fiddled with images to improve them...

if you're really enthusiastic you might like to try out some of his ideas...  link..     :)
