Custom Civ In Ultimate Edition

I downloaded GC2 UE from my Stardock / Gamestop account and thought id try a custom civ as i usually play using the Yor, thought id have a change as ive read on here the Yor are a bit underpowered now in the economy dept due to the changes in TA.

First off i have no mods installed, all i have done is put a 256x256 race image in the main GC2 folder as 'RaceImage60.png', other than that it is as downloaded at V2.03.

I selected the custom race, selected abilities, color, political party etc. When it came to the ship style i selected create custom style and choose the Yor shipset as i was familiar with that style, next the Thalan tech tree was selected. I then choose my custom race image and GC2 logo, saved and carried on to set up a new game.

Heres where things went wonky...

On selecting my planet i have no buildings, the default ones like a factory, research etc seem to be missing?

Next i went into the shipyard and i have the Terran ship style not the Yor style i choose in the custom shipstyle i set up.

What have i done wrong?

Also, where has the custom playlist gone that was in GC1? Ive noted its in the Prefs.ini for UE, disabled? Does it work in UE? Im sure CariElf would have it put it in somewhere ...

The Thalan tech tree is another unusual one - you aren't supposed to have the default buildings. However, there should still be some available - if you have literally no buildings, then that could be a problem.

I also can't account for why your ships reverted to the Terran style.

Yes the Thalan tree is very strange took me moons to work out that its back to front A very good tree once you have worked it out.

No i didnt have any buildings when i started, would that be because of the techs i chose in the civ setup? Although you can 'right hand' button on them for the details they dont really tell you what buildings you get with that tech selected. Any suggestions for the starting tech?

As for the 'create custom shipstyle' i didnt explain myself very well. I selected the Yor as the style type then clicked create custom shipset, i chose my colony, construction and mining ships as the default for those types and saved it. When i got into the game, those three types were still the default Yor types, not the ones i selected as default. When i opened the shipyard the ship style was terran. Could that be because i chose the 'create custom shipstyle' and not the default Yor style? If that is the case there should be a setting for default ship style within the 'create custom shipstyle' dialog? Why did the default ships appear and not the ones i selected?
