Faster Repair Rate
Is there a way to make ships repair faster?
Because the fastest way I found is to upgrade them to a similar model to restore the HP in one go.
But that gets expensive

They repair at a faster rate if they are orbiting a planet.
I meant faster.
Orbiting the planet is not fast enough, especially I need the ships to repair at least 200 HP in a short amount of time.
Then increase your Repair ability to around 300, or more.
Any other way?
Because there are only a few ways to gain better repair and they all involve projects and technology, which only total about 60% , without anomalies.
If you need your ships to repair ~200 hp in a very small amount of turns, you need better ships-which may mean that you need better techs. They shouldn't be taking that much of a beating-or rather, they shouldn't be taking that much of a beating and still surviving (for instance, about the only scenario I can see where they might take that much damage would be against DL ships, in the campaign or something, which tends to destroy them outright).
But there is nothing else that you can do, short of modding, to increase your repair rate, aside from what has already been said.
I do seem to remember them repairing when they go up in level, but that could just be the extra hp that they gain, and not full hp. Apologies if I'm misremembering.
Upgrading them to the identical model they already are is the only way I have been able to do it.
Thanks for the tips.
To clearify, I already practically maxed out the PD but the enemy is very dangerous in the fact that they are throwing Nightmare Torpedoes like if it's candy.
The only reason why I have ships left standing if the use of the flagships I always been using (dreadnoughts with fleet warp bubbles to draw fire and more defenses than you can sake a finger at).
Practically, even with maxed out defenses, they can only take about 3-5 battles before having to retreat for repairs and many of them are veterans.
Not to mention the battles are taking place outside my capital, so I can not ignore the enemy.
In TA, at least, if their Organic Materials tech line is followed to its end, the Iconians can get a pretty incredible repair ability. Along with their Precursor Libraries, it's one of the main reasons I consider them playable despite some really bad economy issues.
How about since you have a fleet warp bubble ship with defenses, do you have any attack on there? If you do then I say drop all defenses from other ships and try to kill the enemy asap.
The solution I came up with was to just have more of those ships kicking around so that I don't need to send the whole fleet back, just swap in an undamaged ship and send the damaged one back for repairs. It isn't a perfect solution, you still have to build more flagships and they will cost maintenance, but if you don't end up losing them, you save money that would otherwise have been spent on building replacements.
Thanks for the tips.
Too bad that I lost that game because the enemy was blessed with a mega event that caused their stats to grow slowly overtime. In time, I lost my fleets simply because of the fact they really became too powerful (weapons at 300% anyone?), so I resigned the game.
Oh well, guess my luck's not that great in that game.
